No. 9 Duke (17-3, 7-2 ACC) is a 5.5-point road favorite at Notre Dame in an Atlantic Coast Conference game Monday at 7:00 pm ET on ESPN. The Blue Devils will play the second of three straight road games after winning and covering at Louisville 73-64 on Saturday.
Notre Dame (14-6, 7-2 ACC) has lost once since falling to Indiana on Dec. 18, a 79-73 loss at Virginia Tech on Jan. 15. This game was originally scheduled for Jan. 1 but was postponed because of COVID-19 issues in the Duke program.

Duke’s Griffin Steps Up
Freshman wing 6’6 AJ Griffin, one of five Blue Devils projected to go in the first round of the 2022 NBA draft, continued his strong recent play with 22 points in the nine-point victory at Louisville.

Griffin made all five of his three-point attempts, and he hit two during a late 12-0 run that decided the game. He had threes on consecutive possessions to push the Blue Devils’ lead to 68-60.
Griffin, who suffered a sprained knee in preseason practice and was brought along relatively slowly, is averaging 12.5 points with a pair of 22-point games since joining the starting lineup six games ago.
Duke Double-Doubles Up
Center 7’0 Mark Williams and forward 6’10 Paolo Banchero, two other Dukies who are projected as first-round picks in the 2022 NBA draft, had double-doubles against Louisville as the Blue Devils dominated the interior.

Williams had 14 points and 11 rebounds and Banchero had 11 points and 15 rebounds. Each has five double-doubles this season. Duke had a 47-34 rebounding edge over Louisville and outscored the Cardinals 42-26 in the paint.
Williams also had two blocked shots against Louisville, both leading to Griffin threes at the other end down the stretch. Williams averages 3.2 blocked shots per game, tops in the ACC and 11th in Division I.
Freshman guard Trevor Keels has missed the last three games with a calf injury and his status is unknown.
Duke vs Notre Dame Head-to-Head Results
Duke is 7-1 straight up and ATS in the last eight against Notre Dame, although the Irish broke a seven-game losing streak with 93-89 victory at Cameron Indoor Stadium in the second of two meetings last season.

The Blue Devils have won and covered the last three at Notre Dame, all as a favorite. Duke eliminated the Irish from the ACC tournament in the 2018 quarterfinals and the 2017 finals.
Four of the last six and seven of the last 10 games have gone over the total, although the last two in the Purcell Center have been under.

Duke has won five of its last six straight up, going 4-2 ATS. Over a longer stretch, the Blue Devils are 10-2 straight up, 8-4 ATS.
The Irish are 9-0 straight up and 6-3 at home ATS this season and have covered six of the last seven, beginning with a 66-62 victory over Kentucky on Dec. 11, the only previous ranked team they have played. Duke is 11-7-2 ATS, 2-2 on the road.
Irish Begin Two-Game Tester
Notre Dame will begin a two-game stretch against the top of the ACC leaderboard against Duke today. The Fighting Irish and the Blue Devils are one-half game behind ACC leader Miami (16-5, 8-2) with five weeks remaining in the regular season, and Notre Dame begins a two-game trip in Miami on Wednesday, their only meeting this season.

Miami already has beaten Duke in their only meeting, posting a 76-74 victory as a 15-point underdog in Cameron Indoor Stadium on Jan. 8. The Blue Devils have lost only at Florida State since.
Notre Dame Has Options
Freshman wing Blake Wesley (15.0 points per game) has joined a veteran Irish group that can attack from different angles and stretch the floor. The Irish are looking to match their best conference start.
Seniors 6’6 Dane Goodwin (15.0 points), 6’10 Paul Atkinson (11.4 points, 6.2 rebounds), 6’10 Nate Laszewski (8.9 points, 7.5 rebounds) and 6’3 Prentiss Hubb (8.3 points, 3.6 assists) are the other starters.

Notre Dame shoots 37.9 from three-point range, 21st in Division I, and five players have made at least 26 threes. Laszewski is a pick-and-pop threat, with 33 three-pointers on 46.5 shooting from distance. Goodwin has 44 threes and is shooting 48.9 percent from afar.
Duke vs Notre Dame Prediction
Notre Dame is a versatile, veteran team that can play better than the sum of its parts. After begin drubbed in a 16-point loss at Boston College on Dec. 3, Wesley’s first start, the Irish have found the right fit. The do not blow teams out, they just win.
