Our usual NFL pick column of the week has five matchups to bet on this time, but most importantly it has a combination between teams that somehow have looked good in the start of the season, and teams that haven’t found identity, yet.  These are the NFL Week 3 Betting Picks:

Detroit Lions +1.5 vs Washington Redskins -1.5. Game Total: 49.

The Redskins problems start in the offense, but it doesn’t get better when it comes to the defense.

Washington was down 24-0 at the end of the first half against the Packers and 26-7 of the first half of week one Monday matchup against the Eagles.  The Redskins were death after two quarters.  Reasons? First they can stop anybody.  There’s no talent on the defensive side, and second, the read option is basically death for them unless they unleash Robert Griffin III.

If RGIII can’t run, systematically they won’t fool anybody and Alfred Morris becomes the only target in the running game.  Washington was the best team in the NFL running the ball last season because they had both RGIII and Morris moving the rock.

The Lions have a more than capable pass rush, and despite they lost to the Cardinals their team looks fun on both ends.  Detroit found out on Monday that Reggie Bush’s knee injury is not serious, and he will be able to play on Sunday.  The team has a different gear when Reggie is at the backfield.

Pick: Detroit +1.5.

Cleveland Browns +5 vs Minnesota Vikings -5. Game Total: 40.5

Five points difference in the spread says that Vegas doesn’t quite know what to make of this matchup.  The Vikings have the best running back in the game, and they will try to run it as much as possible.

Minnesota is not pleased about how Christian Ponder is playing, and he needs to show this week he deserves the job.

Cleveland looked good by their standards against the Ravens, but they don’t have receivers that can make plays down the field.

Cleveland is 1-15 SU in its last 16 games on the road. Minnesota is 5-1-1 ATS in its last 7 games at home.

Pick: Vikings -5.

Jacksonville Jaguars +19.5 vs Seattle Seahawks -19.5. Game Total: 40.5

I never like games with such a big spread difference, but have you seen the Jaguars played? It’s embarrassing.

This is arguably the best team in the league against definitely the worst. I think Alabama might have a better shot than them in the NFL.

If you are willing to swallow the points, take also the over in the game total.  It should be a blowout.

Pick: Seahawks.

Chicago Bears -2 at Pittsburgh Steelers +2. Game Total:

The Steelers have been the most disappointing team in the first two weeks of the season, but at some point they will snap out this horrible start and win a game.  They won’t end the season 0-16. And while I enjoyed the Bears beating both the Bengals and the Vikings, you have to realize the two wins were awfully close, and both were at Soldier field.

The best bet is to take the home team with the points.

Pick: Steelers +2.

Monday Night

Oakland Raiders +14.5 at Denver Broncos -14.5. Game Total: 49.

Both games in this AFC West series were won by the Broncos last season, and both by at least a two touchdowns difference.  Denver has more weapons than they did last year, and the Raiders don’t have a good enough team to keep the pace.

Pick: Broncos.

Week two was awesome for betting and though week 3 doesn’t have quite as impressive marquee games doesn’t mean it’s not full of betting opportunities.
