New FanDuel customers can take advantage of a massive Kentucky Derby promo from one of the best horse race betting apps by following these steps:
- Click through our link to visit FanDuel and download the app
- Create your new account using your personal information, including name, email address, phone number, street address and social security number
- Choose your payment method and make your first deposit
- Click or tap on “Racing” at the top of the homepage on the FanDuel app or desktop site
- Make your first horse racing bet on FanDuel on the Kentucky Derby, or any other race that’s live on the racebook
If that bet wins, congrats, you’re a winner! Your winnings will immediately hit your account and are withdrawable.
If you lose, FanDuel will credit your account with non-transferable, non-withdrawable racing credit in the amount of the original wager, up to $500.
Racing credits expire after seven days. This offer is only valid for new FanDuel sportsbook customers in states where FanDuel is legal.
You do not have to make a $500 wager to receive this bonus. Bet whatever you are comfortable losing, as racing credit (or bonus bets) is not real money.
How to Use FanDuel No Sweat Bet for Kentucky Derby
Journalism is the 4-to-1 favorite to win the Kentucky Derby ahead of race day. It’s fitting, when you think about it. Those who did plenty of research will find the facts point to Journalism as the horse that should win. But, in the end, even if you’re right it’s not going to pay you much.
And with a No Sweat Bet at our fingertips, we’re looking for a longer shot. Yes, the point of every bet is to win it and winning withdrawable cash is a much better option than getting refunded in race credit, but the No Sweat Bet allows you to step onto a limb a bit.
Based on recent Kentucky Derby betting trends, picking a horse with short odds to win the Derby hasn’t actually been a good bet, anyway. No horse with odds shorter than 8-to-1 has won the Derby since 2018, so I’m looking above those odds, with two standing out: Final Gambit (18-to-1) and Tiztastic (19-to-1).
Final Gambit won the Jeff Ruby Stakes, a 100-point prep race, and had a 101 speed rating in that race. He’s also a late runner, something that can be a massive help at the longer Derby distance.
The knock on Final Gambit, however, is that his jockey, Luan Machado, has no track record of success in the Derby or any other Triple Crown race.
Tiztastic jockey Joel Rosario, meanwhile, does. Rosario won the 2013 Kentucky Derby on Orb and finished second in 2022 on Epicenter. Rosario also has a pair of Belmont wins.
On the same day Final Gambit won the Jeff Ruby, Tiztastic won the Louisiana Derby with its own 100 speed rating. At 19-to-1, Tiztastic has the makings of a real moneymaker this weekend.

Finding the Kentucky Derby on FanDuel
On race day, the Kentucky Derby will be front and center on the FanDuel app, so finding the race to bet on won’t be an issue.
But, if you’re like me and want to get a bet in early, you’ll have to do some looking.
The Derby can be found in a couple places on the homepage of the FanDuel app right now. If you scroll down to “Special Wagers” and over “KY Derby Day” it’s right there at R12. Just click in and you’ll see the odds and can make a bet.
It’s also available in the “Top Tracks” section under “KY Derby Day”.
Derby odds are pari-mutuel, meaning that your payout is based on post-time odds, no matter when you make the bet. So, if you bet Tiztastic at 19-to-1 today, that could fluctuate prior to the race, which would change your potential payout.
