In several weeks Kentucky online sports betting will launch, but interested Kentuckians can register for an online sports betting account beginning today.

“Bringing sports wagering to the state not only gives Kentuckians a much-anticipated new form of entertainment, but also brings money to the state to support pensions, freeing up money that can be used to build a better Kentucky through the funding of education, economic development, disaster recovery and other necessary projects, like providing cleaner water, building roads and high-speed internet,” Gov. Andy Beshear (D) said when he announced the pre-registration opportunity nearly three weeks ago.

Kentucky Online Sports Operators Offering Bonuses

The next few weeks will see the seven licensed Kentucky online sports betting operators jockeying for position in the commonwealth to capture as much of the market as they can before launch. It’s a great time for sports betting customers to shop around for multitude of sign-up offers the operators will be featuring.

Seven online sports betting operators have received approved to launch on Thursday, Sept. 28, with temporary sports betting licenses from the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission. These operators, and their partnerships with licensed Kentucky horse tracks, are as follows:

Several Options for 18 and Older in Kentucky

Kentucky is one of the few states in the country to set its legal sports betting age at 18 and older. While most of the online sports betting operators and brick-and-mortar sportsbooks have announced they’ll only let those who are 21 and older use their services, there are options for legalized betting for customers who are 18.

DraftKings announced it will allow those who are 18 and older to use its online sports betting app.

“DraftKings is committed to following the age restrictions set forth by each individual jurisdiction,” said Griffin Finan, Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, DraftKings.

Churchill Downs Racetrack will allow those who are 18-or-older to enter its race and sportsbook to place bets. The other five licensed Churchill Downs Inc. tracks are 21 and older.

Brick-and-mortar sports betting is set to launch on Thursday, Sept. 7.
