Gov. Andy Beshear (D) reported more than $232.3 million in Kentucky online sports betting since the commonwealth launched its online offerings on Thursday, Sept. 28.

Online sports betting dominated the Kentucky market, with nearly 93% of sports bets being made online since the Thursday, Sept. 7 sports betting launch. Retail sports betting has accounts for about $15.7 million so far.

In total, Kentucky is approaching $250 million in sports betting since early September.

Hundreds of Thousands Kentucky Sports Betting Accounts

According to Beshear, nearly 500,000 Kentucky online sports betting accounts have been created since the state’s launch.

“Kentucky is approaching $250 million wagered. That is a strong number that certainly reflects excitement for the opening of sports wagering,” said Gov. Beshear in a press release. “It has taken many years to get here, but sports wagering is finally a reality in Kentucky. This is a win-win for Kentuckians, who can enjoy a quality entertainment experience and benefit from funds staying right here in our state to help us build a better Kentucky.”

Sports wagering is expected to increase Kentucky’s revenue by an estimated $23 million a year upon its full implementation.

The following sports betting apps are currently live in Kentucky:

Additionally, Beshear noted a new retail sportsbook for in-person betting will be opening at Sandy’s Gaming and Racing in Ashland on Thursday, Oct. 26.

“We are hearing very positive feedback from both our licensees and people wagering in Kentucky,” said Kentucky Horse Racing Commission Chairman Jonathan Rabinowitz in a press release. “Thanks to the dedication and hard work of the team, this launch has exceeded our expectations. Our work continues to protect the bettors in the state and support the best customer experience.”

Circa Sports On Its Way

Circa Sports has also been licensed by the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission and plans to launch later this year. It also recently announced plans to launch a brick-and-mortar sportsbook at a famous Kentucky race track.

Circa Sports has an agreement in place to bring a brick-and-mortar sportsbook to the historic Kentucky Downs racetrack. Circa Sports currently has a partnership for an online sports betting license with ECL Corbin, LLC, at its Cumberland Run harness track.

Kentucky is the fifth state Circa Sports has been awarded a sports betting license. It has yet to announce a launch date for its online sportsbook.

The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission shows on their website that Kentucky Downs has applied for a sports wagering operator license in the state. Their application is currently “pending,” according to the commission.
