  • Alers vs Garcia goes Saturday, August 10th at 9:00 pm EST
  • Will Alers take advantage of being a relatively short notice replacement? Will Garcia win this title eliminator at 155 lbs?
  • Who will become BKFC heavyweight champion as Sherman and Adams collide? Who takes Guillard vs Vallie Flagg?

BKFC 7 goes at Mississippi Coast Coliseum & Convention Center in Biloxi, Mississippi. Jason Knight suffered an injury and was taken out of the Knight vs Garcia headlining attraction. Jim Alers stepped up to take his place and is carrying his own momentum into the squared circle.

This is a high stake, title eliminator bout at 155 lbs with the winner receiving not just a crack at gold but possibly the most lucrative fight in present-day bare-knuckle boxing.

There’s also a heavyweight title tilt as Arnold Adams takes on Chase Sherman, plus Isaac Vallie-Flagg and Melvin Guillard toeing the line. We break down some best bets for each here.

Alers vs Garcia Odds

Fighter Odds
Jim Alers -175
Leonard Garcia +145

*All odds taken 08/06/19

Garcia won gold in his BKFC debut when he put away Julian Lane. A victory here could propel him towards another title opportunity against The Goat. I spoke with David Feldman the other day and he indicated that the winner of this bout could very possibly be facing Artem Lobov next for that vacant 155 lb title. Garcia, mostly a career 145er, has more energy and is more filled out in this weight class.

Artem is the biggest money fight in present-day BKB and he potentially looms on the horizon for the winner. The aforementioned Jason Knight is also waiting in the wings and could rematch Lobov or face the winner of Alers vs Garcia, per my Feldman conversation.

Alers has a 14-4 MMA record and though he has some striking stoppages, it seems like more of a Jiu-Jitsu player based on his amount of submission wins comparatively. Garcia was definitely more known as a “bite down on the mouthpiece and swing” kind of fighter in his MMA efforts.

Alers vs Garcia Tale of the Tape

Alers
VS
Garcia
1-0 (BKFC) Record 1-0 (BKFC)

Elvin Leon Brito (BKFC) Significant win(s) Julian Lane (BKFC)
Cage Warriors Featherweight Championship (MMA) Notable titles/ distinctions WBF Latin American

Bare Knuckle Middleweight Championship

Legacy FC Featherweight championship (MMA)

I also interviewed Leonard Garcia ahead of this fight and he has a noticeable amount of respect for Alers. Garcia has a laser focus on Alers and is respectful of how effective Alers can be as a martial artist.

I see Garcia as a bit more durable, more effective, and I think the discernable difference in punching power will lend itself to a Garcia win. I have Leonard Garcia winning a war in the BKFC 7 main event on Saturday, August 10th.

Pick: Garcia (+145)

Sherman vs Adams Odds

Fighter Odds
Chase Sherman -165
Arnold Adams +135

Sherman vs Adams is an intriguing heavyweight title fight slated for BKFC 7. Adams is looking to defend his strap and continue the momentum that he has. Arnold Adams has taken to BKB like a duck to water and is making legacy moves by becoming the first black bare-knuckle boxing champion in America.

Sherman is a UFC vet who fought to a dubious draw in his BKFC debut against Sam Shewmaker, the man Adams beat to win the heavyweight strap.

I interviewed Sherman the other day and he mentioned being in a medically induced coma from an allergic reaction to a supplement weeks before his BKFC debut. It will be interesting to see how Sherman performs this time in more ideal circumstances.

I also spoke to Adams though who has experienced a tremendous amount of heartache recently in his family and will look to tap into his champion heart for this one. Adams seemed frustrated he isn’t getting the respect and promotion he feels he deserves but I feel he’ll get an emphatic win at BKFC 7 and perhaps that narrative changes.

Pick: Adams (+135)

Guillard vs Vallie-Flagg Odds

Fighter Odds
Melvin Guillard -200
Isaac Vallie-Flagg +160

Guillard vs Vallie Flagg is a compelling BKFC 7 scrap between two former UFC vets. Guillard has had some missteps in MMA but seems to have applied a fresh coat of paint in BKB competition. Even winning bare-knuckle boxing gold in other organizations.

Vallie Flagg has been competing in bare-knuckle boxing and was involved in that WBKFF controversy where fighters weren’t paid. Vallie Flagg has had a new lease on life since signing with a reliable BKB promotion and scored a knockout victory in his debut at BKFC 5.

I think Guillard will get the job done. His KO power was fearsome in MMA and transfers over to bare-knuckle boxing in a big way. I see Guillard making a big impression in his BKFC debut as he scores a stoppage win at BKFC 7.

Pick: Guillard (-200)
