  • BKFC 8 goes Saturday, October 19th at 9:00 pm EST
  • Can Bigfoot score another highlight-reel stoppage or will Gonzaga prove Bigfoot is more myth than legend?
  • Can Alers keep the knockouts coming or will Lane continue to let it bang?

BKFC 8 emanates from Tampa, Florida this weekend. Florida State Fairgrounds Entertainment Hall is where several pugilists will toe the line in the name of bare-knuckle glory. The card features the usual assemblage of top-level boxers and well regarded MMA fighters.

Both intersecting in a sport that is purportedly the middle ground between the two combat sports. Silva vs Gonzaga is situated in the main event but Alers vs Lane is capturing a solid amount of intrigue from BKB fans. The fight odds and analysis for these two bouts can be found below.

Silva vs Gonzaga Odds

Fighter Odds
Antonio Silva -155
Gabriel Gonzaga +125

*Odds taken on 10/14/2019

Both of these men have been there and done that in the world of MMA. Each has challenged for the UFC heavyweight title and have recorded their fair share of sport defining knockouts. Both are out of their prime years but still have enough in the tank to deliver especially in this kind of medium. Bigfoot took to social media to show how fired up he is for debuting in BKFC.

Bigfoot has gone 1-9 with one ‘No Contest’ in his last 11 combat sports bouts and Gonzaga has gone 5-6 in his last nine martial arts efforts. Gonzaga hasn’t fought in MMA this calendar year but has won on the submission grappling circuit and also won a majority decision in his pro boxing debut.

Antonio Silva has been inactive in MMA since June 2017 but has been taking some kickboxing fights with a WKN title fight awaiting him in late-November.

Silva vs Gonzaga Tale of the Tape

Bigfoot competing outside the UFC’s drug-testing pool adds a layer of intrigue to this. Silva was one of the few people on the roster who could have made a legit case (due to his medical condition) for a TRT exemption during the period in MMA that TRT ran rampant.

The question becomes, which Bigfoot shows up for this one? The killer that put away Fedor or the clearly depleted fighter we saw in the post-TRT days of UFC? I see Bigfoot scoring a stoppage in his BKB debut at BKFC 8.

Pick: Silva (-155)

Alers vs Lane Odds

Fighter Odds
Jim Alers -210
Julian Lane +165

Alers vs Lane is getting many bare-knuckle boxing fans fired up.  Jim Alers feels like he’s on a different level than Lane as per a BKFC promo package leading up to this card. Lane obviously disagrees and is happy someone has once again answered his call of “let me bang, bro!”

Lane is a veteran of the MMA circuit having fought on the Ultimate Fighter as well as stints in Bellator, CFFC, CES, and ROC. Alers is a seasoned pugilist on the Cage Warriors and UFC circuit. Jim Alers has been an intriguing crossover into the BKB world because he was never a renowned KO artist in MMA. But now he has a one hundred percent KO rate on the BKB circuit within the BKFC ranks specifically.

Alers vs Lane Tale of the Tape

Alers
VS
Lane
2-0 (BKB) 14-4 (MMA) Record 1-1 (BKB) 12-9-1 (MMA)
2 (BKB) 2 (MMA) Knockouts 0 (BKB) 1 (MMA)
2 wins in BKB Current Streak 1 win in BKB
MMA Masters Team/ Camp Affiliation Outta Town Shootas/ Wreckroom Athletics
Elvin Brito and Leonard Garcia Statement Win(s) Tom Shoaff
CWFC Featherweight Championship Titles/ Distinctions ROC Vacant Welterweight Championship
CES MMA Lightweight Championship

I just think Jim Alers has too much momentum at this point. My inference is he scores another graphic knockout and maintains his one hundred percent KO rate. I think he gets it done inside of the first two rounds at BKFC 8.

Pick: Alers (-210)
