Lamar Odom vs Aaron Carter will trade punches inside the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Odom and Carter are set to do battle in a three-round exhibition under Queensberry Rules.

TMZ initially reported the news on this boxing bout, and this style of matchmaking adds to a year that is purportedly set to feature prizefights such as Floyd Mayweather vs Logan Paul, Jake Paul vs Ben Askren, etc.

How Did We Get to Lamar Odom vs Aaron Carter?

This is a curious matchmaking permutation in the entertainment niche of celebrity boxing. Odom is a 41-year-old ex-NBA star, while Carter is a 33-year-old pop star/producer.

The fact Odom has emerged as the favorite is not surprising considering he actually has some athletic background and a cartoonish size advantage.

The Celebrity Boxing promotion announced the signing of Lamar Odom in January. However, specifics on an opponent were not revealed at that juncture.

The last time Odom dipped his toe in the pop culture pool before this, he was lamenting about mistakes he made in his marriage with Khloe Kardashian.

Aaron Carter reportedly signed his contract in late November. However, he had begun campaigning for a Justin Bieber fight in the early part of these negotiations.

Carter commented on a live stream after this bout was announced publicly. He indicated his excitement while likening it to a David vs Goliath matchup.

Lamar Odom’s Athletic Comeback

Odom overcame a myriad of health issues in 2015 when he suffered an overdose, endured strokes, and heart attacks in the aftermath.

He did have a brief return to basketball circa 2019 with the BIG3 League. Although it seems like he has made a pretty remarkable recovery, all factors considered.

This in-ring endeavor marks Lamar Odom’s first foray into boxing competition. That being said, Odom seems to be getting ready for the fight, while Carter has not active on social media with his workout routine.

The younger brother of Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter has had quite the tumultuous life in the public eye. He’s overcome addictions/disorders, declared bankruptcy before he was 24, and was caught simultaneously dating Lindsay Lohan and Hilary Duff.

My only hope for this contest is that Aaron Carter will enter the ring to the dulcet tones of Aaron’s Party.

Aaron Carter the Boxer?

There are multiple question marks around this fight, including what weight class this bout would be in. Odom stands at 6’10” and was listed at 230 pounds towards the end of his NBA career opposite Carter’s 6’1/175 pound frame.

In terms of a fighting resume, neither seems to have much of a documented public record. Lamar Odom is crossing over into the sweet science after 14 NBA seasons, while Carter’s only fighting experience is a purported past in “street fighting”.

Despite Carter’s mysterious street fighting record, some say that he once emerged victorious in a prior competition over Shaquille O’Neal.

As far as how the odds on this will move, I imagine Odom will emerge as an even bigger favorite.

Although some outside factors may shift this a touch. I find that if certain people can trash talk and sell themselves decently well leading into a fight, it reflects in the line movement.

I’m certainly not saying Carter can become an outright favorite. However, perhaps a less sizeable underdog if he can generate interest by spitting some game ahead of this one.
