Fury Favored in Opening Boxing Odds

Tyson Fury is the lineal heavyweight champion in boxing while Ngannou is MMA’s lineal heavyweight champion. This bout is a first of it’s kind in that regard and this is something that we may never see again in the world of combat sports.

Both see this as a chance to cement themselves as the baddest man on the planet. Ngannou entered the ring last April after Fury’s title defense versus Dillian Whyte to tease a potential prizefight.

Fury is the current WBC world champion and that is something that is creating a stir among boxing purists.

The title being on the line is not known as of this writing and whether it not it will be a professional bout or exhibition contest is still seemingly up in the air.

Ngannou an underdog vs Fury

Francis Ngannou left the UFC while still holding the UFC heavyweight title. After signing to PFL and announcing a focus on competing in MMA under that banner, ‘The Predator’ can also now finally achieve his long-held dreams of partaking in pro boxing.

This is a fight that has been years in the making with both indicating their mutual interest in making this huge marquee matchup happen. Ngannou is regarded as one of the all-time great heavyweight KO artists in MMA history but is a debutant in boxing opposite Fury who is an undefeated fighter and a pound-for-pound ranked pugilist.

Expected Fury vs Ngannou Odds Movement

In terms of how the odds will move closer to the fight, I can’t really see much underdog money coming in on Ngannou. Fury has fought Deontay Wilder three times and survived against one of the most prolific heavyweight knockout artists that the sport has ever seen.

Ultimately, the gap in localized skillset is too hard to ignore for Fury. Ngannou is diving into the deepest end of the pool that he possibly can here.

While the former UFC kingpin can KO any man on the planet, Fury’s track record speaks for itself. This is a guy who’s close to becoming the undisputed lineal champion of the world versus someone doing it for the first time ala Mayweather vs McGregor in certain regards.
