Quigg vs Carroll emanates from Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. The 12 round super featherweight contest is scheduled as the main event prizefight. Quigg is a former super bantamweight champion who defended the WBA gold between November 2012 and February 2016. Scott Quigg looks to get through the established European champion looking to carve his name on the world circuit, Jono Carroll. The winner of this bout assuredly emerges in a favorable place in the world title picture for 2020.

This bout was initially scheduled to happen in late 2019 but a Scott Quigg elbow injury derailed all of that. From December 7th to March 7th, Quigg vs Carroll is finally going down. This furthered the year-plus hiatus that Quigg had already been on. Quigg’s aforementioned WBA accolades extend to the featherweight division where he held continental and international belts. Caroll’s background includes a variety of IBF European and IBF Intercontinental championships.

UK vs Ireland Prizefight

Quigg lost to Oscar Valdez a couple of fights back in a bid for the WBO world featherweight title. He rebounded by scoring a TKO over Mario Briones in the second round. Carroll is 1-1-1 across his last three fights with a victory scored in his last bout. A unanimous decision in August 2019 over journeyman pugilist Eleazar Valenzuela. The loss through that stretch came to Tevin Farmer in an IBF world super featherweight title fight. Both men are looking for a big W here to get back on the title hunt and set them up for a future chance at world title redemption.

This is a quality card bolstered by fights like Parker vs Murdock and Fury vs Sour. Quigg has chastised Carroll for his lack of a notable KO rate. With three finishes in 17 wins, Quigg dubbed Carroll “Feather Fists” ahead of this outing. Caroll is going to have to utilize his fight IQ, ring savvy, and his unique Southpaw angles to full effect. He also obviously scoffed off Quigg’s assertion that he has no punching power. Saying he will do a lot of damage, breaking people down and breaking people’s hearts.

Jono Carroll has actually engaged in a modicum of rash talk as well. He called Quigg mentally weak and feels that this is rooted in his recent move back to his initial trainer Joe Gallagher. Carroll is laser-focused and certainly isn’t paying any kind to the fact that he’s the betting underdog.

Quigg has an 80-percent stoppage rate across his last few wins. Four TKO victories in five fights are enough for me to think that Quigg can secure a stoppage win. This would mark the first time Carroll ever gets stopped as a pro but I see it happening this weekend. I think Quigg gets the TKO inside of ten rounds.

Pick: Scott Quigg (-175)
