Ontario iGaming set a new record for revenue in August, shattering the previous best by CA$8 million.
The August report from iGaming Ontario has the province posting $267.8 million in online casino revenue, up 6.1% from last month’s $252.3 million. It is also a 3.1% jump from the previous record of May’s $259.8 million.
Even more impressive is these specific online casinos in Canada were up 44.4% from August 2024’s total of $185.5 million.
The performance of the slots and table games was not the only high, as online poker in Ontario brought in $6.8 million in revenue. That’s the second-highest mark ever, only falling short to March of 2024 ($7.1 million).
With sports betting mixed in, all online gambling in the province brought in $334.8 million, the second-best grand total in its history.
Ontario Online Casino Revenue Up 38% in 2025
This latest record only continues to boost Ontario’s iGaming market to new heights in 2025.
Coming into August, the province was over 37% up on revenue year-over-year compared to 2024. That has now jumped up to 38.4% with the new monthly record and year-over-year gain of over $82 million.
Here’s a look at the month-by-month comparison for 2025 and 2024.
Online poker was seeming minimal year-over-year growth entering August, up 1.8% compared to 2024. However, with the big boost in revenue last month, it has created more distance.
Poker has now generated $47.4 million in online revenue for Ontario this year. That’s up 3.5% compared to the $45.8 million it was at through August 2024.
Why are Ontario Online Casinos Continuing to Grow
It’s hard to pinpoint just why Ontario online casinos continue to surge, but playing games from the comfort of home does have an appeal for many consumers.
Recently, Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto was levied a $255,000 fine for recklessness following a concert and afterparty on their grounds.
That kind of chaos is something casino players are sure to be looking to avoid and not an issue when opting for iGaming.
Ontario also has a very vast market with a lot of different operators to choose from, as opposed to consumers being limited to the most nearby retail casino. Most recently, Golden Nugget casino launched its iGaming platform in the province.
Due to stringent regulations, more and more Canadians are growing comfortable with the online gaming option. The market has gained trust, which is likely only going to lead to more record-breaking revenue numbers in the future.
