Sweet 16 action at the Women’s NCAA Tournament tips off tonight, with the nightcap featuring a heavyweight tilt between #3 Duke and #2 LSU in Regional 2 play. Online sportsbooks are listing the Tigers as 8.5-point favorites, and I think you can make the argument that the spread is a bit light.
As a result, I’ll be targeting them in my Duke vs LSU picks, so keep reading for the reasons why, plus the latest odds and how to watch this contest.
Duke vs LSU Odds
As of Friday morning, the best place to bet LSU -8.5 is at DraftKings. They’re offering -118 odds on that side of the spread, while prediction markets are trading the line at a much shorter price. What’s interesting though, is that if you want to bet either the Blue Devils or Tigers moneyline, make sure to visit Kalshi. The prediction market is offering Duke at the equivalent of +376 odds to pull off the upset, which is much better than DK’s +330 price.
Odds as of March 27 at DraftKings and Kalshi. Make sure you use SBD’s exclusive DraftKings promo code to bet on the Women’s March Madness.

There are so many things to like about this matchup for the Tigers. Let’s start with their offense. These women are an absolute juggernaut right now, hanging 90+ points on virtually every team that gets in their way. They’ve opened March Madness with 58 and 54 point victories, scoring a total of 217 points along the way.
In the process, LSU set an NCAA Women’s record for most 100+ point outings in a season with 16, and have vaulted themselves up the offensive efficiency charts to the nation’s number three ranking, behind only UCLA and UConn.
Kim Mulkey’s club can score inside and out, shooting 50% from the field, and 38% from three. They are the top rebounding team in the NCAA Tournament this season, and have a major advantage over Duke in the paint. The Tigers boast one of the best field goal percentages around the rim, and rank number one in offensive rebounding. Easy put backs and second chance opportunities help them build margin, while their suffocating defense forces a ton of turnovers resulting in even more extra possessions.
Duke vs LSU Stats
The last time these two teams played, LSU forced 19 Duke turnovers which they turned into 25 points. They cruised to a 93-77 victory, and have generated 70 points off turnovers so far through two March Madness games.
The Blue Devils have improved significantly since their early season loss to the Tigers, even ripping off a 17-game winning streak at one point. However, this is simply a bad matchup for them. Their defense will be nearly helpless against the offensive firepower that LSU brings, while points for Duke will be tough to come by.
The Blue Devils rely heavily on 2-point field goals, and aren’t much of a threat from beyond the arc. That’s a problem versus the Tigers who rank second in the country in opponent 2-point field goal percentage.
In a perfect world, Duke would love to play a low-scoring, grind it out game, but LSU’s pace and offensive efficiency simply won’t let that happen. Give me the Tigers -8.5, and I don’t hate playing some escalator bets on the spread as well, as I’m predicting a very comfortable LSU victory.
