Indiana Hoosiers Great Moneyline Bet
If you’ve been making bets on Indiana this year, then you’re cashing in. With a 18.57% return on investment so far, they are the third-most profitable team to pick straight up in the college basketball odds.
It’s not as if they haven’t matched up against any stiff competition either. In their most recent outing, the Hoosiers defeated last year’s NCAA tournament finalists, the North Carolina Tar Heels, 77-65. It was a defensive performance reminiscent of Bob Knight-coached Indiana teams from year’s past.

That victory propelled Indiana into the top 10 for the first time since 2017. In addition, it provided further confirmation that Trayce Jackson-Davis is the real deal as he creeps up in the odds to win the Wooden Award, given to the college basketball player of the year.
The senior forward had a double-double, scoring 21 points and adding 10 boards in a massive showcase game that was televised nationally. After the contest, Tar Heels head coach Hubert Davis gave credit where credit was due, saying that Jackson-Davis was the difference in the game.
Rutgers Owns Indiana on Moneyline Bets
Should Rutgers be worried with this Indiana team coming in on a full head of steam and with an extreme level of confidence following that most recent outing against North Carolina? Not if you look at the way they’ve owned them in recent games.
Indiana vs Rutgers Recent Results
Date | Home-Away | Spread | Over/Under |
---|---|---|---|
03/02/2022 | IND 63 – RUT 66 | RUT | Under |
03/11/2021 | RUT 61 – IND 50 | RUT | Under |
02/24/2021 | RUT 74 – IND 63 | RUT | Over |
01/24/2021 | IND 70 – RUT 74 | RUT | Over |
01/15/2020 | RUT 59 – IND 50 | RUT | Under |
The Scarlet Knights have taken each of the past five contests against the Hoosiers and were underdogs in every single one of those games. Apparently, they don’t mind Indiana being the chalk and might be motivated by this point spread once again.
Like Indiana, Rutgers plays a stifling brand of defense. According to the KenPom ratings, they have the 12th best adjusted defensive efficiency in the nation at 89.3. Who sits right above them? You guessed it, the Hoosiers, at 88.9, they are ranked 11th in that defensive metric.
Indiana vs Rutgers Pick & Prediction
While Jackson-Davis is without a doubt the star attraction in this matchup, a player to watch for on Rutgers side is Nigerian center Clifford Omoruyi. He’s almost averaging a double-double with 16.7 points and 9.9 rebounds to go along with 1.7 blocks.
Clifford Omoruyi stood out yesterday. Shows nice mobility. His length is noticeable. Really quick getting off the ground. Led the nation in dunks last year if I recall correctly. Has shown some passing flashes. Still raw as a rim protector. Will have a bigger role this year. pic.twitter.com/pBOGTLPUYt

One thing to worry about for Rutgers coach Steve Pikiell is the health and availability of guard Paul Mulcahy. Their best ball distributor has missed four straight games with a shoulder injury. Turnovers have plagued the Scarlet Knights late in games without the senior available in the backcourt.
Indiana is definitely the more talented team and is on a roll heading into this one. All the question marks surround the home side. Still, those recent results are nothing to be ignored, especially considering that Indiana were also favorites in all those games as well.
There is only one side who can be considered to make a run in the odds to win March Madness, but it’s not March yet. We’re going to ride the trend here, so our prediction in the Indiana vs Rutgers odds is to take the Scarlet Knights in an outright upset on Saturday at home.
