The UCLA Bruins (35-1) ride a 29-game win streak into the women’s Final Four, and it’s the Texas Longhorns (35-3) that stand in their quest to play for a first-ever national championship.

Texas isn’t anyone’s pushover, as they have won 12 straight themselves, and find themselves as the slight betting favorite in the women’s college basketball odds.

Texas vs UCLA Prediction

  • Pick: Under 132.5 points (-114 at FanDuel)

Texas has absolutely throttled the competition en route to the Final Four. The closest a team has come to contesting them in this tournament has been 22 points, when the Longhorns hammered Kentucky 76-54 in the Sweet 16.

The lowest point total they just allowed was in the Elite Eight, when they smothered the second-seeded Michigan Wolverines by a 77-41 score.

No team has even touched 59 points against them in the tournament, with Oregon coming closest in a 100-58 demolition in Round 2.

The other thing that Texas has going for them: they’re the only team in the nation that knows how to beat the Bruins — at least this year, anyways.

The Longhorns hung a 76-65 L on the visiting Bruins on November 26, still the only current blemish on the Bruins’ season.

UCLA’ hasn’t exactly been ‘s path to the Final Four hasn’t been as smooth, especially last game, when the Bruins found themselves down at the half before rallying to dump the 3rd-seeded Duke Blue Devils 70-58.

This was just the second time the Bruins trailed at the half on the season. The other? When they were down 45-25 to Texas through two quarters.

In both instances, the Bruins, who rank eighth in the nation from 3-point range at 36.8%, shot poorly from beyond the arc. Against Texas, they went a dismal 4-for-13 (31%), and that sunk to 2-for-14 (14%) against the Blue Devils.

The difference was the bounce back from Bruins’ star Lauren Betts. While she couldn’t do anything against the Longhorns, finishing with eight points, she shook off a shaky start where she was doubled and pressured constantly to shoot 9-for-14 for 23 points.

While these teams can put up points, they both bring an elite defense to the table, and in a game with so much at stake, and with two sides that rank outside the Top 100 in tempo, this one should be a slugfest as possessions become more intense as the game winds down.

How’s this for respect: the Bruins own the second-longest winning streak in the nation, and are 1.5-point underdogs in this one, paying out at +100 odds. They’re also a cool +118 on the moneyline.

The Longhorns are getting -122 odds to win by two or more points, and are a short -144 to win outright.

The total sits at 132.5 points, a figure the books have established through UCLA’s defense on the season, and Texas’ suffocating defense in the NCAA Tourney.
