No Lane, no pain, as Ole Miss (12-1) advanced to the CFP quarterfinals with a 41-10 win over Tulane Saturday and will face third-seeded Georgia (12-1) in the Sugar Bowl. Online sportsbooks have made Georgia less than a touchdown favorite in the college football odds.

Ole Miss played its first game Saturday under new coach Pete Golding after Lane Kiffin’s messy departure to LSU. The Bulldogs are reigning SEC champs and are looking for another national title to match the ones they earned in 2021 and 2022.

Georgia opens as a 6.5-point favorite at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. The Bulldogs were 7.5-point favorites in the regular season in Athens, so that tells me the oddsmakers believe the Rebels have closed the gap with this game on a neutral field.

The total of 55.5 seems already low to me. These two teams put up a combined 78 points in their first meeting. With the offensive firepower on both teams, I would say to take the over before it goes higher.

The kickoff of the Sugar Bowl will be at 8pm from New Orleans on Jan 1, 2026, with ESPN carrying the broadcast.

Georgia vs Ole Miss Prediction

• Early Pick: Ole Miss +6.5

We’ve seen a couple of rematches already this season. Ole Miss bombed Tulane 45-10 in the regular season and was too strong for the Green Wave in the rematch. Alabama turned the tables on Oklahoma Friday night. The Crimson Tide lost in the regular season but overwhelmed the Sooners in the rematch.

Ole Miss had no trouble moving the ball against Georgia in the first game, with 351 yards, but also couldn’t stop the Bulldogs either; they had 510. Georgia QB Gunnar Stockton threw for 289 yards and four touchdowns against the Ole Miss defense. I already like the over in the Sugar Bowl.

Ole Miss looked motivated Saturday against Tulane, overcoming injuries to star quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and running back Kewon Lacy. Lacy left the game favoring his shoulder in the third quarter, and that’s a storyline worth watching in the next few days.

It’s hard to believe that Chambliss was second on the depth chart to start the season. He had 318 yards passing and three scores Saturday, and it was almost kind of mid. He was on cruise control.

Is Ole Miss on a revenge tour to match all revenge tours, looking to stick it to their old coach? That’s what it feels like.

Georgia has just been too good this season and is one of the favorites in the national championship odds, but they don’t have a signature star on either side of the ball. Stockton has thrown for 2,681 yards and 23 scores and also run for eight touchdowns, while Bulldogs running back Nate Frazier leads the team with 861 yards on the ground.

Defensively, Georgia looks like a typical SEC defense, big, strong and fast. Junior linebacker CJ Allen leads the team with 85 tackles and has been on some All-American lists.

Georgia choked out Alabama in the SEC championship game 28-7 and earned the three seed in the CFP. That was a rematch for Georgia, as it avenged its only loss.

Now I think it’s time for the revenge rematch to catch up to Georgia. I like the running ability of Chambliss, and I love Ole Miss’ motivation. Jump on the over early and the Rebels, I see this one turning into another shootout, with Ole Miss scoring late to win it.
