The 2019 Heisman Odds are a moving target but once thing is crystal clear, Hurts price is never going to get better. With each passing monster performance the value you’re getting on the Alabama transfer is only going to diminish. Here’s the case for Hurts being your best bet to win the award.
Hurts Adds to Resume Every Single Week
The total numbers were clearly impressive, 483 total yards and four touchdowns, but how Hurts racked up those stats was even more flashy. He had 308 yards passing in the first half alone. As a point of comparison, last years Heisman winner and #1 overall NFL pick Kyler Murray never had a 300-yard half in college.

Hurts now has 1,738 total yards and 17 TD. Stacking that up against Murray and 2017 winner Baker Mayfield you can see how awesome his run has been. After 4 games Mayfield had 13 TD and 1,346 yards while Murray had 1,268 yards and 14 TD. Riley clearly has the ability to take a talented quarterback and get the best out of them in a short period of time.
Big 12 Schedule Gives Hurts Big Advantage
There’s little denying the weak Big 12 gives Hurts a massive advantage in the award chase. More specifically, the conference isn’t known for defensive prowess. Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa faces a tough SEC schedule and Ohio State QB Justin Fields has upcoming games against Wisconsin, Penn State and Michigan. As for Hurts? His toughest opponent left is Texas and even that game should be a shootout.

The award isn’t simply who has the biggest stats but that surely goes a long way. The easy remaining schedule should also give Oklahoma a good chance of running the table and making the College Football Playoff. If they do that while Hurts continues to shine, he will be the runaway favorite by seasons end.
The Time to Wager is Now
After every performance a new incredible stat comes out of Norman and with each one Hurts’ odds will lower. Yesterday he became the first Big 12 player with three 60-yard completions since, wait for it, Patrick Mahomes. I’d suggest getting your money in on Hurts as soon as the odds are released this week.
