Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud is inching towards locking up the 2022 Heisman Trophy. The Buckeyes’ pivot had a historic performance in college football Week 11, cementing him as the favorite in the Heisman odds.
Michigan running back Blake Corum, meanwhile, continues to gain traction in the Heisman race, setting up the potential game of the year between Ohio State and Michigan in Week 13. North Carolina’s Drake Maye also might have something to say.
Let’s take a look at the updated Heisman odds and analyze the fallout of Week 11.

CJ Stroud Heisman Odds
Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud was the +140 favorite to win the Heisman trophy entering Week 11 on Saturday. By the time the Buckeyes’ game against Indiana concluded, Stroud’s odds had gotten even shorter.
Stroud threw five TD passes in a 56-14 victory over the Hoosiers, becoming the first QB in Big Ten history to throw 30 passing touchdowns in consecutive seasons. Stroud’s Heisman odds improved to -125 after the game, making him the odds-on favorite.
This was a statement game from Stroud after having his worst showing of the season in bad weather against Northwestern last weekend. Stroud showed that one poor performance wouldn’t deter his campaign.

The Heisman is a single-season award, but voters may be inclined to lean Stroud’s way this year after the OSU pivot finished as the runner-up last season. It certainly helps the Buckeyes are undefeated, and Stroud leads the nation with 34 TD tosses.
Something else worth noting regarding Ohio State’s Week 11 game is that the team lost running back Miyan Williams to injury, meaning the Buckeyes may need to rely on Stroud even more in the final few weeks of the regular season.
Stroud’s numbers are currently among the best in the country, but all that really matters is November 26th. If the OSU quarterback is the best player in “the Game” between Ohio State and Michigan, it’s hard to envision him losing his lead in the race.
Blake Corum Heisman Odds
Michigan running back Blake Corum may end up being Stroud’s toughest competition for the Heisman. Not just because Corum has been extremely dominant on the ground, but because he has the chance to steal the spotlight from Stroud in two weeks.
Corum had another huge outing in Week 11, rushing for 162 yards and one touchdown in a 34-3 victory over Nebraska. The junior entered the day with +750 odds to win the Heisman, and those odds shortened to +400 by the end of the night.

Corum has been on a remarkably consistent tear, rushing for at least 100 yards and a TD in seven straight contests. He’s among the NCAAF rushing leaders in several key categories, including touchdowns, where he leads the way with 16.
Will Blake Corum actually win the Heisman? The current betting odds suggest the Michigan star has 20% implied probability to win the prestigious award. He’d be the first running back to win the Heisman since Alabama’s Derick Henry in 2015.
Corum’s “Heisman moment” opportunity looms in that huge upcoming clash with Ohio State. The Wolverines were able to rush for almost 300 yards against the Buckeyes last season, and Corum will be Michigan’s go-to running back this time around.
Other Week 11 Notes
The Heisman race is still fairly wide open entering the second-last week of the regular season. Stroud is pulling away from the pack, but there are still a few other players with realistic chances to win.
Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker (+250) remains the second favorite to win the Heisman after a bounce-back performance in Week 11. Following a loss to Alabama last weekend, Hooker went out and accounted for four TDs in a blowout victory over Missouri.
North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye saw his Heisman odds improve from +1400 to +400 after he threw for 448 yards and accounted for four TDs in a close win over Wake Forest. Media members are noting how comparable Maye’s numbers have been to Stroud’s this year.

Maye will need to lead the Tar Heels to the ACC title to have a chance at winning the Heisman, and even then, it’s no guarantee voters will award it to him over Stroud, especially if the Buckeyes win out. The ACC just doesn’t provide the same quality of competition as the Big Ten.
Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett rounds out the top five Heisman favorites with odds of +800. Bennett threw for 289 yards and accounted for four TDs in a big win over Mississippi State, but he also threw two interceptions. Those turnovers are starting to pile up, which will likely cost him a shot at winning.
