Miami vs Ohio State Player Prop #1: Julian Sayin Passing Yards

Julian Sayin has burst onto the scene in his first season as a starter, tossing for 3,323 yards and 31 touchdowns with just six interceptions. He’s averaged about 255 yards per game over 13 starts. However, those numbers drop against top-25 defenses like Texas and Illinois, where he threw for under 220 yards in each game.

Led by standout pass-rushers Akheem Mesidor and Rueben Bain, Miami’s elite pass-rush ranks seventh in EPA per dropback allowed, which should force Ohio State into a run-heavy game plan. Sayin has gone under his 235.5 passing yardage prop in three of his last four games versus ranked opponents.

Plus, head coach Ryan Day’s conservative style in big games, especially if Ohio State takes an early lead, only supports the under here.

Miami vs Ohio State Player Prop #2: Malachi Toney Touchdowns

Malachi Toney has scored a touchdown in six of his last nine games, and has eight total scores on the year. The freshman has proven to be a big-game player, scoring touchdowns against Texas A&M, Pitt, Florida State, and Notre Dame.

Toney owns a 15.2% red zone target share this season, and averages an elite 2.1 yards per route run, while putting up an elite 8.4 yards after catch. Miami will scheme up creative ways to get Toney the ball against Ohio State’s secondary, which has allowed four touchdowns to slot receivers this season.

Malachi’s ability to make a man miss and his nose for the end zone, makes this plus-money prop a value play. Expect Carson Beck to target his main man early and often in the Cotton Bowl.

In a game featuring two defenses in the top 20 in defensive EPA per play, and success rate, the under 40.5 is a simple play. After all the Hurricanes gave up just 13.8 points per game this season, while Ohio State gave up only 8.8.

With points at a premium, we’re buying the Buckeyes down to under a touchdown favorites. Defeating a team by double-digits with a total of only 40.5 is no easy feat, and I think Miami’s elite pass-rush keeps this game close.

Finally, we’ll play Julian Sayin under 235.5 passing yards to round out our Miami vs Ohio State same-game parlay. Sayin’s an elite quarterback, but the Hurricanes have given up just 202 passing yards and six yards per pass this season. They’ll be able to contain the Buckeyes passing attack in a game where both play-callers will want to establish the run.
