For the first time in a month, we have a big college football slate to sink our teeth into. Saturday features eight Bowl Games to sweat, and I’ve scoured online sportsbooks looking for the best bets to make in the player props market.
Due to the plethora of players opting out, the menu is limited this week, with no under bets available at the time of writing. Nevertheless, we still found plenty of value, with an emphasis on the North Texas offense.
Below you’ll find my three best bets for Saturday’s Bowl Games, and a detailed breakdown of why each selection stands out.
College Football Player Props – Best Bets (Dec. 27)
My college football player props card starts with 80+ receiving yards for Houston’s Amare Thomas. From there, we dive into the North Texas matchup versus San Diego State, backing Drew Mestemaker to throw for at least 275 yards, and Cameron Dorner to hit 60+ receiving yards.

College Football Player Prop: Amare Thomas Receiving Yards
- Amare Thomas 80+ Receiving Yards (-125 at Bet365)
On paper, a matchup with LSU would seem imposing for any wide receiver. But this is Bowl Season, and the number of Tigers players in the college football opt outs tracker is staggering.
LSU is expected to be without many key figures on defense, including three cornerbacks. Most notably, projected First Round NFL pick Mansoor Delane will sit out, paving the way for a big game for Thomas.
Thomas averaged seven catches and 93 receiving yards over his final four games of the regular season, and will have his starting quarterback Conner Weigman under center.
The junior pivot has plenty of experience against the Tigers, beating them twice with Texas A&M. He posted career-highs in 2025 in virtually every passing category, and should be able to find Thomas early and often versus a cast of second and third string DB’s.
College Football Player Prop: Drew Mestemaker Passing Yards
- Drew Mestemaker 275+ Passing Yards (-125 at Bet365)
Moving on to Mestemaker, who led the FBS in passing yards this season and finished second in TDs. There were reports earlier in the week that he might sit, but he will be under center, looking to put up a big day versus the Aztecs.
Mestemaker threw for at least 277 yards in all but one of his final eight starts, with a 469-yard and a 608-yard performance mixed in there.
Drew Mestemaker Stats
He completes 70% of his passes, at 9.8 yards per clip, and plays behind an offensive line that gives up sacks at just a 4% rate. That’s good enough for Mestemaker to find success against most teams, even some of the stoutest defenses still standing in the CFP odds.
The North Texas vs San Diego State matchup features a slate-high 53-point total, with UNT carrying a 29.5-point team total. That means online sportsbooks expect North Texas to put up plenty of offense, and they’ll do so through Mestemaker.
College Football Player Prop: Cameron Dorner Receiving Yards
- Cameron Dorner 60+ Receiving Yards (-115 at Bet365)
A sizeable output for Mestemaker in the passing game means he’ll be carrying a couple of receivers to big days as well. Wyatt Young is the most likely candidate, but he’s been humming and hawing about playing in this game for weeks.
There’s no question that Dorner will be on the field, and I like his chances of racking up catches and yards. He’s amassed 10 receptions and over 200 receiving yards in his last two outings alone, and has cleared 60+ receiving yards in seven of his past eight contests.
