The game of the century is here. In a historic #1 versus #2 match-up, Tennessee takes on Georgia this weekend in a game that may decide the fate of this college football season.
Tennessee comes into this SEC battle after a wondrous 44-6 beatdown of No.19 Kentucky last week.
On the flip side, it’s business as usual in Athens. The reigning champion Georgia Bulldogs remain undefeated after beating up on Florida 42-20 in the “world’s largest outdoor cocktail party” last Saturday.

Tennessee Betting Trends
Head coach Josh Heupel leads perhaps the nation’s best offense into Athens hoping to upset the Bulldogs. For the first time since the days of Peyton Manning, the Volunteers are armed with the most devastating attack in the sport. Tennessee is officially back.
Heisman trophy favorite Hendon Hooker has been a revelation this season. The senior from North Carolina has thrown for 21 touchdowns and just 1 interception while slicing through defenses every Saturday. Hooker has time and again thwarted opposing pass-rushers to deliver on-the-money bombs to his explosive group of pass-catchers. This offense can score from anywhere, at anytime.

On the other side of the ball, the Volunteers quietly allow just 6.9 yards per pass attempt. Additionally, it’s important to remember the Vols just stifled future first-round NFL draft pick Will Levis and Kentucky last week. Tennessee held the Wildcats stalwart to just 98 yards passing and intercepted Levis three times. Moreover, Tennessee is allowing just under 93 rushing yards per game, good for 9th in the nation.
Should Tennessee be able to take an early lead and slow down the Bulldogs’ passing attack, Georgia could be in deep trouble.
Georgia Betting Trends
Predictably, the Georgia Bulldogs have run roughshod over the competition so far in 2022. Kirby Smart’s squad have decimated college football this season as the Bulldogs are averaging over 40 points per game. Smart’s defense hasn’t missed a beat without former defensive coordinator Dan Lanning. So far, Georgia is surrendering just over 10 points per game.
After a momentous start to the campaign, quarterback Stetson Bennett has reverted to his game-manager self. Against lesser competition, that’s just fine for a team like Georgia. The Bulldogs have more than enough talent around him to pick up the slack. Sophomore tight end Brock Bowers is a movable chess-piece, capable of making game-changing plays from all over the field.

With the news that linebacker Nolan Smith will miss the rest of the season after tearing his pec, Georgia will have to look for other ways to pressure Hendon Hooker. Thankfully, stalwart defensive tackle Jalen Carter returned from injury last week and will suit up for this one.
Nonetheless, the strength of Georgia’s defense this year is their secondary. Led by Kelee Ringo, Chris Smith, and Malaki Starks, this is far and away the best unit the Volunteers will see all year. If Ringo and co. can slow down Hendon Hooker, Georgia can almost stamp it’s ticket to the SEC championship game.
Tennessee vs Georgia Prediction
This will be the first time in their long and storied rivalry that Tennessee and Georgia meet as top-five opponents. This truly may be the game of the entire college football season.
Be wary of the line movement for Tennesee vs Georgia. So far, the line has come down all the way to 8 after Georgia opened as 11.5-point favorites. UItimately, Tennessee has the best offense in the country, and Georgia will have to unleash Stetson Bennett’s arm and put up points to keep pace. The over is an easy choice here.
