AAC Conference champions Tulane take on Ole Miss in a monumental College Football Playoff first-round clash on Saturday, December 20th.
The Green Wave finished their season with a 34-21 rout of North Texas, while Ole Miss defeated Mississippi State in their closing game. The Green Wave and Rebels are an even 3-5 ATS in their last eight.

Tulane is simply outmatched in both athleticism and depth in this first-round CFP matchup.
The Rebels smoked the Green Wave 45-10 back in September, racking up 548 total yards while holding Tulane to 282. That game was also in Oxford, where Ole Miss is 8-0 this season and outscoring opponents by 22.5 points per game.
Tulane has improved since then and enters this contest on a five-game winning streak. However, even without their playcaller, defensive coordinator Pete Golding will be able to rally his troops.
Ole Miss offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. should coax the best out of quarterback Trinidad Chambliss (3,016 passing yards, 22 TDs) and running back Kewan Lacy (1,279 rushing yards, 20 TDs), and that will be enough to defeat Tulane in this Tulane vs Ole Miss prediction.
However, the Green Wave defense should keep them in this contest. Tulane’s stop unit is 33rd nationally in havoc rate and has created 24 takeaways this season.
Plus, quarterback Jake Retzlaff is fully capable of keeping drives alive with his arm and legs. I like Ole Miss to win this game, but expect the Green Wave to hang around early before the Rebels pull away in the second half.

Retzlaff has been reliable all season, averaging about 220 passing yards per game. But the Tulane quarterback folded under pressure in the first matchup with just 56 passing yards while under constant pressure.
The Rebels defense is one of the best in the nation in limiting explosive plays, and with their front seven once again disrupting Retzlaff’s timing, it’s tough to see him throwing for over 185.5 passing yards. The Rebels are 11th in the nation in EPA per pass surrendered, so expect to see their havoc-creating front dominate this football game.
Lacy has been a beast this season as the Rebels’ bellcow back. He’s averaged five yards per carry while rushing for 1,279 yards and 20 touchdowns, and exploded for 367 yards and four touchdowns in his last two games against SEC rivals Florida and Mississippi State.
Ole Miss gashed Tulane for 241 rushing yards in September, with Lacy scoring twice, and I’m betting on more of the same in the CFP rematch.
Mississippi kicker Lucas Carneiro has exceeded 7.5 kicking points in four of his last five games while averaging 10.2 kicking points a night.
With a high total of 57.5 and the Rebels’ team total of 37.5, Carneiro will be involved early and often in this one. With Ole Miss set to score points for fun today, Carneiro will breeze past this prop line.
