They call it the Turnpike Classic when Oklahoma State (1-1; 1-1 ATS) hosts rival Tulsa (1-2; 1-2 ATS) Friday night at Boone Pickens Stadium.

Oklahoma State is coming off a bye after suffering its worst loss in over 100 years when it was hammered by Oregon, 69-3. Both teams have already seen their starting QB go down with an injury.

Oklahoma State opened as 14-point favorites, but the line has come all the way down to -10 and -9.5 at sportsbooks. The total for tonight is 54.5, but Fanatics has it at 55. The best moneyline value is Tulsa +300 at ESPN Bet and OK State -345 at FanDuel.

The Golden Hurricane are 1-2 against the spread this season, and 3-7 against the number in their last 10 games. OK State has lost seven in a row against the spread. Tulsa is 1-2 over/under, and OK State is 1-1 over/under.

The last four meetings between the two teams have all hit the under. Like I said, Oklahoma State has won the last 10 battles, eight of the 10 by double figures. They’ve covered in five of the last seven meetings.

Tulsa vs Oklahoma State Spread

Tulsa has lost its last 11 games against Big 12 teams. After finishing 3-9 last season, the Golden Hurricanes cleaned house and brought in new coach Tre Lamb, who had been at East Tennessee State. Tulsa opened with a win over Abilene Christian, but lost to New Mexico State and Navy the last two weeks.

Presumed Tulsa starting QB Kirk Francis got a concussion in the loss to New Mexico State, and Baylor Hayes played for Tulsa in the loss against Navy. Lamb hasn’t said who will play against the Cowboys.

The best player on the field will probably be Tulsa LB Ray Coney, who is third in the nation with 36 tackles.

OK State has its own issues. Starting QB Hauss Hejny broke his foot in the season opener, and redshirt freshman Zane Flores stepped in and struggled against Oregon.

Oklahoma State is in a major tailspin as a program. They have been embarrassed two of their last three times out, and I wonder if the clock is ticking on the Mike Gundy Era. If this game were in Tulsa, I’d be all over the Golden Hurricanes, but I also don’t think the Oklahoma State crowd will be that big of an advantage.

Tulsa is in full-scale rebuilding mode under Lamb, but look out for Golden Hurricane running back Dominic Richardson, who started his college career in Stillwater but then transferred out. He’s had almost 100 yards a game, and at least he’s a weapon for the Tulsa offense. The Cowboys don’t have anyone on offense who scares me at this point.

With both teams having quarterback issues, I am pounding the under, and while I don’t quite have the stones to go Tulsa moneyline, I will take the points from DraftKings.
