[This is the latest in our Dancing with the Stars odds article series. Each week, I’ll run down the happenings in the latest episode and update each remaining contestant’s odds to win based on their performances to date. For previous articles see: Pre-show; Episode 1; Episode 2; Episode 3.]

Emotions were running high during yesterday’s powerful Dancing with the Stars episode, which was themed the “Most Memorable Year Night.” A few dancers touched heartstrings while others laid the groundwork for their inevitable exit.

Invariably, judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, Julianne Hough, and Bruno Tonioli were swayed as scores were generally higher.

Despite a heartfelt performance, NFL wannabe Michael Sam and his partner Peta Murgatroyd were eliminated.

With a fourth dance in the books, we know a little bit more about each remaining contestant. Let’s update the odds after episode 4!

Nastia Liukin (with Derek Hough): 3/1

  • Throughout this season of DwtS, the mirrorball trophy has been Nastia’s to lose. Again, Liukin and Derek validated their front-running status with an impressive Argentine tango and an even more impressive score of 36. They remain 3/1 favorites.

Rumer Willis (with Valentin Chmerkovskiy): 4/1

  • There wasn’t a dry eye in the house when Rumer Willis disclosed her self-image issues. With an impressive score of 35, Willis and Chmerkovskiy definitely turned tables on haters and those fans who are betting against them having what it takes to win this dance competition. They stay as 4/1 runners-up in the odds.

Willow Shields (with Mark Ballas): 5/1

  • Despite being in jeopardy, Willow Shields – the youngest DwtS contestant ever – went all Hunger Games on the judges and audience when she and partner Mark Ballas fought off ninjas and scored the competition high of 39 points. Let’s see if they can keep the momentum going. The pair jump up slightly from 6/1.

Robert Herjavec (with Kym Johnson)            10/1

  • Robert Herjavec dedicated an emotional “The Last Waltz” to his deceased mother, and the judges responded. Professional dancer Kym Johnson is keeping her Shark Tank partners always moving forward. But with the three strong contenders at the top, Herjavec falls slightly from 9/1 this week.

Riker Lynch (with Allison Holker): 14/1

  • Despite turning in a 34-point tango performance, Riker Lynch and Allison Holker were the last to be called safe, which puts them in jeopardy next week. The pair suffers one of the biggest falls of the week, dropping from 10/1.

Noah Galloway (with Sharna Burgess): 33/1

  • As America roots for Noah Galloway, he and his partner Sharna Burgess turned in a cathartic contemporary performance that boosts their odds slightly from 35/1. Still, as this competition gets more difficult, I expect the couple to struggle.

Suzanne Somers (with Tony Dovolani): 35/1

  • Somers’ Three’s Company-themed foxtrot felt desperate. The judges agreed by giving the duo the second-lowest score of the night with 28 points. Somers falls from 33/1 as a result.

Patti LaBelle (with Artem Chigvintsev): 35/1

  • Patti LaBelle said it all when she mentioned her son wanted her to dance more with her body and less with her hands. While she did jazz it up with partner Artem Chigvintsev, physical limitations will be her downfall sooner than later. Her solid performance results in only a modest jump from 38/1.

Chris Soules (with Whitney Carson): 38/1

  • Chris Soules of The Bachelor fame and professional dancer Whitney Carson turned in the lowest score of the night with 27. The writing is on the wall for this couple, who fall from 35/1. Too bad Carson – last year’s professional winner – can’t oust Soules herself in a very special Rose Ceremony.
