  • Now that we’re halfway through 2020, you can place bets on which couples will make it through the second half of the year
  • “It” couples from entertainment and politics fill the list, ranging from long-standing married couples to those newly dating
  • See the odds on favorites to split and those which are guaranteed to last to New Year’s Day

What a world it is we live in. So far this year, we’ve seen a pandemic that has killed over half a million people, witnessed a global social movement get new wind, and, well, that whole murder hornet thing.

It only makes sense that we collectively need some mind-numbing distractions then, right? What a better way to pass the time than speculating which celebrity couples’ love is a ticking clock. As miserable as 2020 has been, seeing props in place that speculate whether or not the President and First Lady will implode before the holidays is a bit of saving grace.

But the Trumps are not alone in this insanely long list of well-known Hollywood couples. The list features pairs who have already endured decades of marriage like Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell (spoiler alert: they’re definitely not breaking up). The flip side and far more fun side of the coin are the flash-in-the-pan couples (Cough cough, we see you Jenners) who would be lucky to make it through the summer let alone Christmas time.

Odds taken July 9

Okay, let’s get the less fun part out of the way first: the couples that are destined to survive. While their relationships are certainly aspirational and endearing, it’s not exactly rocket science to predict couples such as Will and Jada or Oprah and Stedman are endgame status.

There must be something about queer Hollywood couples that seems rock solid to bookies, too. Of the list, the gay couples such as Ellen and Portia, Elton and David, and Neil and David all have equally impressive odds to stay together at -4000 a piece. Perhaps the age of the couples is also a factor, but maybe getting their party days out of their system in their younger days set these LGBTQ+ couples up for success.

Another lock to stay together? Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar. Though they’re not exactly spring chickens themselves these days, the two have grown up together and stayed relevant in Hollywood as a couple to look up to. That’s romance, people. All those teen rom-coms must have taught them a few things.

Pick: Oprah Winfrey and Stedman Graham – No (-4000)

Fleeting Love

The juicier side of these odds sees a younger crowd filled with celebs who’ve bounced around from one countless relationship to another. It’s no shock to see the Jenners among this bunch given Kendall and Kylie’s continual breaking up and making up with their beaus.

Hilariously, the list of likely break-ups is not limited to fresh-faced reality stars. In fact, one of the most likely couples to split is the Trumps. Donald and Melania’s relationship has been scrutinized since long before his presidency. Whether or not he’s voted in for another term, bookies are betting on the Trumps to part ways before the year is over. I mean, the couple doesn’t exactly seem like the happiest pair in the world. Melania’s constantly pouting face has become meme fodder with the general narrative being her unenthused disposition.

To round out the list of those most likely to take different paths, Ben Affleck and girlfriend Ana de Armas. Affleck still hasn’t earned back the public’s affection after cheating on ex-wife Jennifer Garner. He’s considered a bit of a louse now, which is why it makes a lot of sense to see his new relationship with the Knives Out star being skepticized.

Pick: Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott – Yes (-1000)
