A summit nine months in the making is about to take place in Washington, D.C.
Kim Kardashian-West is set to meet with several White House officials, including senior advisor Jared Kushner, Wednesday afternoon to discuss prison reform, specifically the release of one Alice Marie Johnson.
What Would Alice Marie Johnson Need to be Discharged?
The entrepreneur and reality TV star has been advocating for Johnson’s release since she first heard of the great-grandmother who is currently serving a life sentence without chance of parole for a first-time, non-violent drug offense.
Johnson would need to be granted clemency by the president himself in order to be discharged, and it just so happens someone relatively close to President Trump has been pushing prison reform for some time now.

Kushner is responsible for the First Step Act, a bill aimed at helping inmates re-enter society through job training and treatment programs, and which would also give non-violent offenders more options to serve the ends of their sentences outside of a prison cell.

It has not been made clear at this point whether President Trump will be present for Wednesday’s meeting, though he did meet just last week with Sylvestor Stallone, Lennox Lewis, and Deontay Wilder to discuss the pardon of boxing legend, Jack Johnson.
Will Trump offer a pardon-of-sorts to Alice Johnson? He is currently a pretty big fan of Kardashian-West’s husband, so there is a chance he will look upon this case with some amount of favor. However, when the current president is involved, it is often best to not hold your breath.
