  • The Marvel Cinematic Universe releases their next film, Avengers: Endgame, on April 24th
  • This is seen as the “final” installment to this Avengers series
  • Audiences are hoping that fan favorite, Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth), will survive this film

With the impending release of Avengers: Endgame on April 24th, fans are set for another fill of all their favorite Marvel superheroes.

Just like the previous installment, Avengers: Infinity War, this film brings back superstar superheroes such as Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), and Thor (Chris Hemsworth).

While many other Marvel characters (including Black Panther and the Guardians of the Galaxy) perished in the previous Avengers film, some are scheduled to return, and some may be killed off forever.

Snap Survivor

Thor was one of the few characters who survived Thanos’ iconic snap at the end of Avengers: Infinity War. Most of the major characters died aside from some key Avengers. Thor made it out alive last time, but can he make it to the end of Endgame?

Hemsworth’s Thor hasn’t maxed out in this franchise yet, and the company can surely milk more out of him. You could say this character is actually just getting started in this universe.

The last solo Thor film, Thor: Ragnarok was one of the biggest Marvel successes in recent years. With its Cate Blanchett villainess, killer soundtrack, and fun, colorful spin on this universe, it was an instant classic. Surely the studio will want to follow that up with another juicy Thor film.

The last solo Thor film, Thor: Ragnarok was one of the biggest Marvel successes in recent years.

Given that Avengers: Endgame is a complete mystery in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the fate of any of these characters is totally up in the air.

The Future is Open Ended

With the exception of the upcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home set for release this July, all upcoming Marvel projects presently have release dates with no titles or descriptions attached.

Spider-Man was killed off in Infinity War, but given that we know Peter Parker/Spider-Man will be brought back to life given his upcoming solo film, that spoils the fun on the character’s fate.

But for all other characters, it’s a giant question mark regarding their respective fates. It’s mysterious marketing, but it also allows fans to suspend their disbelief entirely.

If fans knew an upcoming Thor film was on the table, it wouldn’t be possible he’d meet his fate in Endgame. But chances are he won’t anyway.

After all, Thor is a bright light in the Marvel universe, especially within the Avengers. While most of the Avengers are stoic (Captain America), serious (Iron Man), or straight up angry (The Hulk), Thor is a rare bright light in this mix.

Surely we aren’t ready to see that light be dimmed just yet. Thor’s here to stay.
