  • Avengers: Endgame will be released in theaters on April 26th, 2019
  • Fans of the franchise are speculating what special moments the movie will have in store
  • Will Ant-Man ultimately be responsible for Thanos’ demise in Endgame?

It’s rare that the bad guy reigns supreme at the end of a movie, but that’s exactly what happened in Avengers: Infinity War when Thanos successfully wiped out half of the universe with a snap of his fingers. Now fans of the franchise are speculating who will ultimately be responsible for Thanos’ anticipated demise in Avengers: Endgame, which is due out later this month.

One of the most popular theories among the fan base at the moment is that Ant-Man will be the one to do the deed. After all, he was conspicuous by his absence in Infinity War, and at the end of Ant-Man and The Wasp, it was revealed he has access to the quantum realm.

With there being rumors of the Avengers going back in time to 2012’s battle of New York, will Ant-Man be the key to killing Thanos and bringing back all who have perished?

Sportsbook don’t seem to agree with the fans who think he will be – at least not at the moment, anyway. According to odds, people are betting on Thanos’ death coming at the hands of someone else.

As great a character as Ant-Man is (I’d argue his sequel last summer was an underrated gem), he has no business being the one to defeat Thanos, simply because there are others who would be better candidates.

It is much more likely that the destruction of Thanos will be a group effort between all of the Avengers.

Then again, Endgame is bound to be filled with twists and turns, and Ant-Man killing Thanos would be, without a doubt, the biggest surprise of them all. All that to say, there could be value in betting “Yes” here, but it is much more likely that the destruction of Thanos will be a group effort between all of the Avengers (including those that perished in Infinity War).

The near-invincible abilities Captain Marvel displayed in her recent film makes her a top choice, not to mention that Thor is still out for revenge after failing to aim for the head in Infinity War. Meanwhile, Iron Man has unfinished business with Thanos, and it can, in fact, be argued that his entire character arc has been building toward him slaying Thanos.

In the trailers for Endgame, Scott Lang can be seen roaming the streets of San Francisco before eventually meeting up with the remaining living Avengers. Rest assured, he plays an important role in the movie, but surely Thanos’ death won’t be as simple as Ant-Man shrinking and resizing inside of him.

Unfortunately for the pin-sized hero, I tend to agree that Ant-Man won’t be the one to truly avenge his friends.

Pick: No (-500)
