Chelsea (-500) vs. Burnley (+1200) (Draw +550)
After Man City went winless in five straight EPL games, Chelsea consolidated their lead at the top of the table with two straight wins. Sitting on 59 points (18-5-2), the Blues are now seven points clear of the Citizens and will try to make it three wins in a row when they host Burnley on Saturday at Stamford Bridge (10:00 a.m. Eastern).
Chelsea is a -500 favorite to win in the moneyline, while Burnley is +1200. The draw will pay +550.
If you’re partial to the handicap, Chelsea is -1.5 (meaning the Blues would have to win by two in order to cash).
Chelsea comes into the game unbeaten in five straight Premier League matches (4-1-0) and on the heels of a 1-0 win over Everton. (Their last loss was way back on Jan. 1 when they fell to Spurs, 5-3.)
Though Everton kept Chelsea scoreless for the better part of 90 minutes last game, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was pleased with his team’s pressure.
“We tried everything, and the spirit was amazing. The pressure was strong, and they were in trouble for the last 10 minutes. We scored a goal that the linesman disallowed very well, but everyone was inside their box for the last 10 or 15 minutes. In the end, we got a very important goal”, said Mourinho.
Burnley, meanwhile, is winless in their last five (all competitions), going 0-1-4 in that stretch. Most recently, they lost 3-1 to Man United. The winless streak has the team sitting second-last in the table on 21 points(4-5-16).
“It’s a tough business we are in and this game can sometimes kick you in the rear. The manner, energy and organization … it was all on show tonight. But we have to turn performances into wins,” manager Sean Dyche said after the game at Old Trafford.
Burnley has not fared well away from home lately, losing their last three by two goals. Chelsea (-1.5) looks like the best play.
