Manchester City (-225) vs Tottenham (+550) (Draw +350)
The Barclays Premier League is back after a round of Euro 2016 qualifying. One of the most attractive games this weekend will see Manchester City welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Etihad Stadium (Saturday, October 18, at 7:45 a.m. Eastern).
City enters the game as favorites, listed at -225. Spurs are +550 in the moneyline, while a draw is listed at +350.
In the head-to-head history, Manchester City and Tottenham have met 127 times in the Premier League, and there is very little to separate the two rivals. The Sky Blues have 49 wins to the Spurs’ 48. The other 30 contests have ended in a draw. However, the recent history favors City, who have won five of the last six meetings.
Brazilian midfielder Fernando will be playing just his second game of the season for City after suffering a groin injury at the beginning of the year. The Tottenham match will likely be his first start. (He came off the bench in the 64th minute during City’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa on Oct. 4.)
“I knew I’d hurt myself when I had to come off against Stoke. I felt some pain in my groin, and it turned out to be a small tear which was quite painful. The international break has given me more time to sharpen up, and I will be ready for Tottenham,” said the Brazilian.
After seven completed fixtures, Man City is in second place in the EPL with 14 points (4W, 2D, 2L) and a +7 goal differential. Tottenham is sixth in the table with 11 points (3W, 2D, 2L) and a +2 differential.
