SonicFox Is Simply the Best

NetherRealm Studios have made a variety of fighting games, such as the Mortal Kombat and Injustice Series, and SonicFox has been a master of all of them. Add in his fluency in SkullGirls and Dragon Ball FighterZ and it’s hard to argue that he’s not the best fighting-game player of all-time.

Focusing on Mortal Kombat 11, SonicFox was dominant right out of the gate. The first tournament of note was the Summit of Time, which he won with a series of 3-0 sweeps, including his grand-finals win over Dragon.

Since Summit, SonicFox hasn’t finished any tournament he’s entered in worse than second place. He’s heading into EVO after back to back wins at CEO and Defend the North. Very few people can match up to SonicFox’s practice habits and his ability to adapt on the fly.

We’ve seen SonicFox with his back to the wall and he almost always finds his way out of it. Don’t expect him to lose at EVO. He’s already a four-time EVO champion with wins in Injustice, DBFZ, and Mortal Kombat X.

A Foxy Grand Finals?

A F0xy Grampa has the second-best odds to win thanks to his recent victory at VSFighting. It’s worth noting that this tournament did not feature several of the top-ranked MK 11 players.

Still, A F0xy Grampa has posted consistent results and is often in the top-three of events that he enters.

Of course, the guy that often eliminates him is SonicFox. At Combo Breaker, F0xy made it close by forcing a fifth and final game. But at CEO, SonicFox handed him a 3-0 defeat.

Dragon seems like he has a better shot of winning EVO. At CEO, Dragon knocked both SonicFox and A F0xy Grampa down to the losers bracket. He appears to be an elite MK11 competitor even though he’s only entered a handful of tournaments. I’d place money on Dragon winning well before betting on A F0xy Grampa.

Long Shots to Beat SonicFox?

If you’re feeling gutsy, one guy who could net a big pay-off is Scar. The Combo Breaker champion has a grand finals win over SonicFox to his name.

Yes, this was in the early days of MK11 but a win’s a win. If you’re going to have any chance of winning EVO, you’ll need to beat SonicFox. Scar’s done exactly that.

But, at the end of the day, I probably won’t bet on anyone to beat SonicFox at EVO.

Pick: SonicFox (-115)
