  • The League of Legends World Championship Group Stage starts October 12
  • Best bets for teams to reach the final
  • Will we see a team claim their fourth World Championship or a team complete the elusive Grand Slam?

With the Play-in Stage wrapped up and the groups all finally set, the main event of the League of Legends World Championship is just days away from kicking off in Berlin. We’ve already taken a look at the best bets to win out at Worlds earlier on, but with some movement in the odds table recently it’s time to take one final look before the Group Stage gets underway.

As it stands, SK Telecom T1, sit on top of the table as the favorites to come out on top in the 2019 LoL World Championship odds, but not far behind are the number one seeds from the LPL and LEC, FunPlus Phoenix and G2.

Is the Korean superteam a good bet to win their fourth World Championship? Will the LPL go back-to-back at Worlds? Or will G2 complete the clean sweep for the year and take home Europe’s first World Championship since 2011?

Who Will Be the Last Two Standing?

At last the stage has been set, with the Play-in portion of the League of Legends World Championship wrapping up Tuesday, the final 16 teams competing to be the best team in the world for 2019 have been finalized. Now comes the Group Stage portion of the tournament followed by the Knockout Stage, which will inevitably lead us to the final, which is where we will start in the list of bets available for Worlds.

There are only four teams that I would really suggest taking a look at to reach the final in Paris; SK Telecom T1, G2, DAMWON, and FunPlus Phoenix, and I would say the likelihood of each team making it would be in the order listed. SK Telecom T1, come into Worlds as the favorite to win it all following an impressive run in the back-half of the LCK Summer Split that saw them only drop eight games over 16 series en route to winning back-to-back LCK Split titles.

They expect nothing less than to be hoisting a fourth World Championship in Paris come November 10th, and I think given their current form they are the best bet to reach the final.

G2, on the other hand will be looking for their first World Championship and they will be doing so on homesoil. They’ve been considered one of, if not the best team in League of Legends this year, and it’s kind of hard to dispute as they have won the title in both LEC splits, and took home the title at MSI after stomping Liquid in the final.

I would say the final of the World Championship will more than likely end up being a rematch of the semifinal of MSI, where G2 met up with SKT T1 and narrowly beat them 3-2.

The other two teams that stand a chance to make the finals, DAMWON and FunPlus, are both teams that I see reaching the semifinals but no further. That is unless the bracket ends up in such a way where SKT T1 and G2 end up meeting up with each other in the quarter or semifinals and only one can advance. I would be cautious putting money on either team, but if I was to suggest one of the two it would be DAMWON due to their extra value.

Picks to Reach Final: SK Telecom T1 (+100) / G2 (+200)

First or Fourth?

Like I said, you should be expecting SKT and G2 to meet up in the finals should they be drawn on the opposite sides of the bracket. In a rematch of what could have been the best international series played this year, who is the better bet to come out on top? For my money, I would go with SKT.

I think Faker, and the rest of the T1 boys will get their revenge on G2.

In their first meeting it looked like SKT were poised to win the series 3-1 and book their trip to the final of MSI. That was before a few misplays not only brought G2 back into the game, but eventually lost the Koreans the series. This time around I don’t anticipate that matchup playing out the same way.

SKT has looked great down the stretch in the LCK Summer Split and with the guidance of the most decorated player in League of Legends history seeking his fourth World Championship, I think Faker, and the rest of the T1 boys will get their revenge on G2.

That’s not to say this won’t be close or G2 don’t stand a chance to win their first World Championship. They are being pegged as the team by many players and analysts to complete the Grand Slam, and take home their first World Championship in their own backyard in Paris.

If it ends up with these two teams meeting in the final, I would expect a back and forth battle that more than likely would reach the limit just like the first time these teams met earlier in the year. I just find it hard to bet against SKT here though. They are going to be seeking redemption not only for their loss at MSI, but for their team missing Worlds last year, and a highly motivated Faker, is a very scary sight.

Pick to Win: SK Telecom T1 (+300)

League of Legends 2019 Region Winner Odds

Region Odds
LCK +130
LPL +150
LEC +300
LCS +2000
Other +10000

Which Region Will Reign Supreme

Like I stated earlier I expect SKT, to come out on top at Worlds this year which would mean my bet for the region to win it all would so LCK. Though I do see some value here in the LEC at +300, as the only other team I could see winning it all, G2, will be representing Europe. But since I think the Koreans will be winning it all once again, I’ve gotta stick with my guns and go with LCK  in this prop.

Pick: LCK (+130)
