An attractive field has been assembled for the 2019 RBC Canadian Open from Hamilton Golf & Country Club, boasting four of the top six players in the world, including Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas.
This is the first time the tournament has been contested at this venue since 2012 when Scott Piercy took home the title. The event moves from its customary July date on the calendar to a week before the US Open.

Wise to steer clear of Dustin Johnson wager
Dustin Johnson has kept his schedule light, playing in just three of the last eight tournaments. So he comes into the RBC Canadian Open refreshed in defense of his 2018 RBC Canadian Open title.

He’s played brilliantly, finishing runner-up at the PGA Championship and the Masters, which makes his decision to part ways with long-time swing coach Claude Harmon all the more baffling.
He’s the betting favorite to win, but is a guy switching swing instructors fully confident to win this tournament? It’s never a good idea to count out DJ, but in this instance, given his low +600 odds, look to wager elsewhere.
Mackenzie Hughes is Canada’s best hope to end 65-year drought
If you’re inclined to bet on a Canadian to finally end the country’s long winless skid at this tournament, the first names that come to mind are Adam Hadwin (2017 Valspar Champion) and Corey Conners (2019 Valero Texas Open winner). But don’t sleep on Mackenzie Hughes.

Hughes grew up 15 minutes from the course and has played it around 50 times, giving him a significant edge. His odds are an incredibly juicy +12500 and, in his last tournament two weeks ago, he entered the final round tied for second. He’s in good form, making him worthy of strong consideration.

2019 RBC Canadian Open Best Value Picks
- Scott Piercy (+3300): Winner on this golf course in 2012. Top-3 finishes in two of last four individual events. Hasn’t missed cut since March.
- Jason Dufner (+5000): Tied for 7th in last week’s Memorial Tournament. Was in the mix a week prior before difficult final round. Also was T-4th at Wells Fargo a month ago.
- Bud Cauley (+6600): Was in contention at Memorial Tournament before settling for a top-10 finish. Registered a T-4 result on this course back in 2012.
- K.H. Lee (+12500): Deep darkhorse with huge upside. Led the Memorial Tournament midway through Saturday before a tough closing stretch saw him tumbling down leaderboard.
