This event boasts supreme star power which includes Tiger Woods, who is making his second start of 2020. This is the one event that has vexed him the most in his career, so will he finally tame Riviera?

Can Tiger Seal the Deal at Riviera?
For all his incredible accomplishments this is the one course that has consistently puzzled Tiger Woods, where he still has yet to taste victory, the most times of any event he’s played without getting into the winners circle.

In twelve attempts (ten as a professional), Woods has a tie for second and just two other top 10’s, but no hardware (he finished second in 1998 at a different course).
Tiger Woods’ Results as a Pro at Riviera
Year | Result |
---|---|
2019 | T-15th |
2018 | MC |
2006 | WD |
2005 | T-13th |
2004 | T-7th |
2003 | T-5th |
2001 | T-13th |
2000 | T-18th |
1999 | T-2nd |
1997 | T-20th |
How Tiger has never won at Riviera is baffling to many, particularly because he says the course suits his eye. While it may be tempting to plunk down cash on the Big Cat this week, use caution at his +1600 line against such an elite field.
Bubba Watson Alternates Wins and Losses at Genesis
If there was ever a tournament that absolutely suited Bubba Watson, this one would be it, with him alternating wins and losses at this event in the last six years.
Bubba Watson wins the Genesis Open, his 10th career PGA TOUR victory and his 1st since winning the tournament 2 years ago.

If the pattern of wins and losses continues, this would be the year that Bubba would earn his 13th career PGA Tour title. He’s coming into the tournament in solid form too, having finished T-3rd and T-6th in his last two times competing so you can bet Bubba this week with confidence at his +2500 odds.

Phil Mickelson Primed for Another Victory
It’s safe to say the longest slump of Phil Mickelson’s career is over (22 straight events without a top-10), with lefty posting back-to-back third place finishes at the Saudi International and the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Mickelson won this tournament in 2008 and followed that up with another one in 2009. In 2007 and 2012 he was runner-up, losing in a playoff both times. Suffice to say, he loves Riviera and needs to be on your radar this week at juicy +4000 odds.
2020 Genesis Invitational Best Value Picks
- Patrick Reed (+4000): In his last five worldwide starts, Reed has been on fire or struggled, with T-2nd, third and sixth place showings to go along with a pair of missed cuts. When he wins it’s against elite fields, with his last five victories all coming in premium events (one major, two playoff tourneys, a WGC and the winners-only Tournament of Champions).
- Sergio Garcia (+6600): Coming into his first US event of 2020 in fine form, with three top-10’s in his last four European Tour attempts (two T-6’s and a T-8th), with the other result being T-23rd. Has been successful here before, with fourth place finishes at this track in both 2012 and 2015.
- Branden Grace (+10000): Before a missed cut at Pebble Beach, had posted a win and T-3, T-9th and T-17th showings around the world.
