- The ZOZO Championship at Sherwood Country Club tees off Thursday, October 22nd
- The event features eight of the top ten in the world plus Tiger Woods’ first start since the US Open
- We’ve narrowed down the golfers with the best chance of emerging victorious and provided the best value bets below
Tiger Woods won the inaugural ZOZO Championship last year in Japan with a three stroke victory to tie Sam Snead for most PGA Tour victories with 82. He returns as defending champion – albeit at a different course due to the COVID-19 pandemic keeping the Tour stateside instead of travelling back to Japan.
Woods is very familiar with this venue, having hosted his Hero World Challenge at this track from 2000-2013, and he absolutely dominated it, winning a record five times.
The field is a strong one, boasting eight of the top ten golfers in the world, with just Dustin Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau taking the week off. It’s a limited 78-man field and like the CJ Cup, there is no cut.

Tiger Woods Loves This Golf Course
It’s safe to say that this is Woods’ personal playground, having won on this track five times when it hosted the Hero World Challenge in which he won in 2001, ’04, ’06, ’07 and 2011 titles. He also was a runner-up on five occasions – so Big Cat should be in top form this week.
Tiger Woods shoots 10-under 62 at World Challenge, tying his own course record at Sherwood. Woods had a putt for birdie on EVERY hole.

Because his name is Tiger and he’s owned this course in the past, his odds are shorter than they probably should be.
He has failed to record a Top 10 since the Farmers way back in February, and has struggled to put together four consistent rounds when we have seen him out on Tour during the COVID-affected season.

US Open | CUT |
BMW Championship | T-51st |

PGA Championship | T-37th |
The Memorial Tournament | T-40th |
The Genesis Invitational | 68th |
Farmers Insurance Open | T-9th |
Despite his fantastic pedigree around Sherwood Country Club and chance to set the all-time wins record this weekend, the prudent move would be to not place a wager on him at +3500 odds.
His issues on the greens continue to persist, where he’s lost strokes to the field in five of his last six tournaments, which doesn’t bode well for his chances this week.
Zozo Championship at Sherwood Best Value Picks
- Tyrrell Hatton (+2000): We were high on him last week and he didn’t disappoint, finishing T-3rd. Won in his previous start at the prestigious BMW PGA Championship on the European Tour. Inside the top-10 in seven of twelve events in 2020 and T-25 or better in nine of twelve tournaments.
- Russell Henley (+5000): Led the CJ Cup last weekend by three strokes after 54 holes before eventually settling for T-3rd alongside Hatton. Only one missed cut in the last ten events and he’s been T-27 or better in the last five tournaments, including three top-10’s.
- Justin Rose (+7000): Though he hasn’t exactly been firing on all cylinders of late, this price is just too good to pass up on a world-class player like Rose. It hasn’t been all bad for Rose, as he finished ninth at the PGA Championship two months ago, and has had three good-not-great events in the last four. At some point the price point is just too good to pass up and this is a perfect example of that for the ten-time PGA Tour winner.
