- DeChambeau is a co-favorite to win the Masters November 12th-15th
- What other under the radar player’s have good value to place a wager on at Augusta National
Bryson DeChambeau has bucked conventional wisdom and has played golf his way, packing on tons of muscle, smashing drives into oblivion and resorting golf down to an exact science. To all his detractors, he proved his was correct, winning the US Open by six strokes Sunday as the only player to finish under par for the week.
With that victory, DeChambeau’s odds to win a green jacket at this year’s Masters have dropped to +1000, where he shares the lowest odds with Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm.
Should you go all in with the Mad Scientist to win back-to-back major titles or is there someone else that has more enticing odds? In this article we’ll explore the updated odds to win the year’s final major championship in November.

Bryson DeChambeau Dominates For First Major
Coming into 2020, Bryson DeChambeau had surprisingly no top-10’s in 14 career major championships. He’s changed that quickly in the last month, tying for fourth at the PGA Championship and then winning the US Open running away by six strokes. DeChambeau defied the odds by bludgeoning the golf ball without regard for hitting fairways, hitting just 41% of them en route to victory.

DeChambeau shot all four rounds at par or better with his trademark mammoth drives but he also proved his mettle with his short game as well, ranking second in that category for the week to go along with being third in both SG: off the tee and approaching the green.
Only three players have won the NCAA Individual Championship, U.S. Amateur and U.S. Open.

With hitting fairways not really mattering all that much at Augusta National compared to courses with massive rough like Winged Foot, those skills will be huge come November.
He’s made the cut all three times he’s played the Masters, with middling results thus far in his career.
Bryson DeChambeau’s Masters Results
Year | Result |
---|---|
2019 | T-29th |
2018 | T-38th |
2016 | T-21st |
Clearly DeChambeau is a far more polished golfer than his three previous attempts at Augusta National, but with the low odds of +1000, it feels like there’s other players I’d rather select who have had much more success around that track.
Last Five Masters Champions
Year | Winner |

2018 | Patrick Reed |
2017 | Sergio Garcia |
2016 | Danny Willett |

Xander Schauffele Sporting Good Value
Last year, Xander Schauffele came so close to breaking through at Augusta National, before settling for a second place tie.
In 2020, he has posted two more top tens in majors, having finished T-10 at the PGA and fifth at the recently completed US Open. His current odds are at +1800, which is much more enticing compared to the favorites at +1000.
70 today for Xander Schauffele.
In the last 100 years, Bobby Jones is the only player with a better strokes gained per round average on the weekend in the @usopengolf than Schauffele.

In six of his last nine major championships, Schauffele has been inside that top-10 mark. The pressure never seems to get to the X-Man, where he’s able to block out any outside pressures or noise.
He has nine straight top-25 finishes, and had everyone started at the same score two events ago at the Tour Championship, he would’ve won the 72-hole event.
Most top-10s in majors since 2017:
Brooks Koepka, 8
Xander Schauffele, 6
Rory McIlroy, 6
Tony Finau, 6Koepka is the only one to win a major in that span. Xander starts today T4. Rory is 7th.

He’s third in total strokes gained, seventh tee-to-green, fifth in scoring average and tenth in greens in regulation on the campaign. With a steady and strong putting stroke, that bodes well for his chances to win his first career green jacket in November.
Pick: Xander Schauffele (+1800)
