Friday was supposed to mark the first KBO slate of 2020 with fans in the stands. Unfortunately, a recent uptick in COVID-19 cases will force fans to wait just a little bit longer.

Nevertheless, the season marches on with five new series beginning at 5:30 am EST on July 3rd, including first-place NC looking to avenge a series loss to KIA from two weeks ago.

No Shortage of Offense Here

The Dinos dropped both games to the Tigers in that mini two-game set and were outscored 14-10. The over cashed in both outings and five of the last seven NC contests have eclipsed the total.

They’re fresh off scoring 23 runs in a series win over Lotte and will face KIA’s Drew Gagnon, who has been mediocre at best over the last month. He’s allowed three runs in each of his last four starts, and that includes outings against light-hitting Samsung and SK.

Also working in favour of the over, is the fact that the Dinos will give the ball to Sung Young Choi. The left-hander  has made it out of the 4th inning in just one of three starts this season and sports an ugly 5.94 ERA and 1.74 WHIP.

Pick: Over 9.5 (-125)

SK Looks to Continue Sampson’s Woes

Nobody likes betting the SK Wyverns. They’re the second worst team in the league, and have been outscored 17-4 during a five-game losing streak. However, sometimes an opposing pitcher is struggling so bad that we have to plug our noses and take them.

That’s been the case recently with Lotte’s Adrian Sampson. The 28-year-old was shelled by the aforementioned light-hitting Lions last time out, and has allowed eight or more hits in four of his last five starts. He owns a 6.16 ERA, a 1.66 WHIP, and has produced just two quality starts all season.

SK meanwhile, will trot out Ricardo Pinto who’s been quite respectable this season. The right-hander is fresh off 6 innings of one-run ball versus LG and has surrendered a single run or less in three of his last five outings.

Lotte’s offense ranks fourth from the bottom in average, and only Hanwha has hit fewer home runs.

Pick: SK Wyverns +1.5 (-145)

Can’t Fade Kiwoom When Jokisch Gets the Ball

No team in the KBO is hotter than Kiwoom right now, and only NC’s Chang Mo Koo has outperformed Heroes’ ace Eric Jokisch this season. The left-hander is fresh off 8 shutout innings of one-hit ball versus KIA and has allowed just 10 runs total in 10 starts this season.

On Friday he’ll square off against KT Wiz for the second time this season, and if his stuff is as good as their first meeting, the Suwon won’t have a chance. Jokisch didn’t allow an earned run in a 5-1 victory on May 29th and struck out nine KT Wiz batters along the way.

Pick: Kiwoom Heroes -1.5 (+105)
