Real Madrid (-1200) vs. Deportivo La Coruña (+2000) (Draw +1200)
La Liga leaders Real Madrid are set to host Deportivo La Coruña this Saturday (11:00 a.m. Eastern) at the Santiago Bernabeu.
In the moneyline, Los Merengues are -1200 favorites to win. Depor is +2000 to pull the upset and the draw will pay +1200.
Real suffered their worst loss of the season last weekend in El Derbi, getting crushed 4-0 by Atletico. Real is still on top of the table with 54 points (18-0-4 and a +48 goal difference), but Barcelona is now just one point back (and has an even better goal differential at +49).
Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t let the setback interfere with his birthday plans. The 2014 Ballon d’Or winner angered fans by enjoying a night on the town after the loss. Fair or not, Ronaldo will now have to be in top form over the next few games in order to placate Real supporters.
On the other side of the field, Deportivo La Coruña has a clear goal in the second half of the season: stay out of the relegation zone. Depor are sitting 11th in the table – which sounds comfortable enough – but they have just 24 points (6-6-10) and are only five clear of the bottom three. Moreover, their -14 goal difference is sixth-worst in La Liga.
The team has been playing well lately, winning two in a row and earning seven points from their last three games. But they have really struggled against the giants of Spanish football lately. Last time these teams met, Real crushed Depor 8-2 back in September.
That win continued Real’s recent dominance in the head-to-head series; Los Merengues are 7-1-0 in their last eight against Deportivo, scoring 27 goals and conceding just eight.
Look for the same to continue this Saturday.
