The start of the regular season is closing in fast, so it’s time we target the latest MLB win totals.
Not surprisingly the LA Dodgers, fresh off their World Series title in 2025, have the highest win total, and the only team with a total set over 100, at 103.5.
While we won’t be targeting the Dodgers, I do like four teams to go over their 2026 win totals.
MLB Win Totals
My picks run the gamut, starting with the Chicago White Sox, who open 2026 with a 67.5 win total, one of only two teams (joining the Washington Nationals) who have a win total sub 70.
San Diego and Milwaukee are in the middle of the pack, while last year’s World Series finalists, the Toronto Blue Jays, check in at 88.5 wins.

MLB Win Total Pick #1: Chicago White Sox
Only the hapless Colorado Rockies had a worse record than the White Sox’s 60-102 mark, and while the team is far from contending, as you can see in the 2026 World Series odds, tacking on eight more wins from where they were a season ago feels like it can happen.
The team is built around a budding star core or SS Colson Montgomery, catchers Kyle Teel and Edgar Quero and second baseman Luisangel Acuña. Throw in some potential star pitching in the form of prospects Noah Schultz and hagen Smith, and there are the makings of something on the South Side.
For an added layer of interest, the White Sox have also added Japanese batting champion Munetaka Murakami to play first base, and hopefully, mash. They also added a good arm in the bullpen in ex-Blue Jay Seranthony Domínguez, and his work in these pressure situations will be nothing compared to what he dealt with in a World Series run last year.
The AL Central isn’t exactly a powerhouse after the Detroit Tigers, and we’re not sure if they’ll be able to catch their magic in back-to-back seasons. The glass is half-full for the White Sox, for now.
- Pick: Over 67.5 wins (-110 at bet365)

MLB Win Total Pick #2: San Diego Padres
AJ Preller was a Dr. Frankenstein sort of roster builder last season, mixing and matching some of the dregs of the veteran free agent pool to round out the roster, and the results were … scary.
Finally, once he cleaned things up, the Padres got to 90 wins, marking the third time in four seasons San Diego has hit the 89-win mark.
There’s talent dotting this roster, with Fernando Tatis Jr in the outfield, Manny Machado at third base, and Ty France won a gold glove for his work at first base in 2025.
The pitching does have some question marks, with Joe Musgrove coming back from Tommy John surgery and Michael King just trying to get healthy after a nerve issue and knee injury limited him to 15 starts. Nick Pivetta was a workhorse last year, but already skipped a start in the spring with arm fatigue.
No worry, the Pads still have an A+ bullpen fronted by Mason Miller, Adrian Morejon and David Morgan to carry them, and Preller will make the necessary moves to keep SD in contention out West.
- Pick: Over 83.5 wins (-115 at bet365)
MLB Win Total Pick #3: Milwaukee Brewers
They’re coming off their best regular season in franchise history, and the Milwaukee Brewers will try to reload for another run despite losing some top end talent. But it’s nothing new for this franchise.
While Caleb Durbin and Freddy Peralta are gone, the team will look for William Contreras to find his form from a few years back, while Brice Turang looks like he can keep mashing and Jackson Chourio could be in breakout mode in year three, after nearly identical first two seasons in the bigs, where he hit 21 home runs and just missed 80 RBI.
Pitching should be fierce, with Jacob Misiorowski seemingly stepping into the top spot in the rotation and could easily find himself in the Cy Young odds mix, while talents like Brandon Spoat and Kyle Harrison are also looking to break through.
Chad Patrick and Robert Gasser are also ones to look out for on the mound.
- Pick: Over 84.5 wins (-120 at Caesars)

MLB Win Total Pick #4: Toronto Blue Jays
Assuming there is no World Series hangover — I mean, that was a brutal championship to lose — the Blue Jays feel a little too talented to fall below 90 wins this season, and the books have generously set the total at 87.5.
And that’s not something they’ve done often as a team, anyways. Since the 2020 season, Toronto has only gone Under 87.5 wins once, if you’re not including the 2020 shortened COVID season, when only 60 games were played.
Blue Jays Record Since 2020
*shortened season due to COVID
Losing Bo Bichette hurts, but Toronto still has stud Vlad Guerrero Jr, who should be in the MLB MVP odds, solid outfield play from Dylan Varsho and emerging star Addison Barger. And the team went big game fishing in the offseason, landing starter Dylan Cease from the Padres and signing Japanese infielder Kazuma Okamoto.
Throw in Korean League MVP Cody Ponce and reliever Tyler Rogers, plus Shane Bieber picking up his option and the team bringing back Max Scherzer, and this team has plenty of pitching and hitting to take them back to the postseason to shake those demons.
- Pick: Over 87.5 wins (-110 at FanDuel)
