The Yankees are a -120 favorite here and have gone 18-7 at home this season. They’ve also moved up to +600 in World Series odds behind only the Dodgers.

Angels vs Yankees Probable Pitchers

Ohtani is in the midst of a respectable season on the hill. In eight starts, he’s gone 3-3 with a 3.45 ERA, striking out 63 hitters in 44.1 innings of work. The two-way star has also shown solid command, allowing just 10 free passes. However, last time out, Ohtani was hit around by the scorching hot Blue Jays, surrendering five earned runs before exiting after six frames.

The Yankees aren’t a familiar lineup to Ohtani. He’s only pitched 0.2 innings against them, giving up seven earned runs during that very brief outing. It’s important to note he owns a 3.18 ERA on the road in 2022, though.

Ohtani vs Taillon

Shohei Ohtani
VS
Jameson Taillon
3-3 Record 5-1
3.45 ERA 2.49
1.04 WHIP 1.01
.213 OBA .240

This is easily the best season of Taillon’s career so far. He’s been one of New York’s most consistent starters, boasting a tremendous 2.49 ERA and 1.01 WHIP in nine appearances. The right-hander is attacking the zone and getting lots of run support when he does pitch, compiling a 5-1 record.

Taillon is also coming off arguably his finest start of the year. The 30-year-old held the Rays to two hits and zero runs across eight flawless innings on May 27th, also striking out five. However, in two outings against the Angels, Taillon owns an ERA over nine.

Angels Struggling

Los Angeles got off to a solid start and they still sit at 27-23, which is second in the AL West behind the Astros. But the Angels have now hit a cold spell, losing six in a row after getting swept by the Blue Jays at home in four very close games. The Yanks then spanked LA 9-1 on Tuesday, with Noah Syndergaard getting absolutely lit in his return to the Big Apple.

Nevertheless, the Angels have looked pretty consistent on both sides of the ball. They’re hitting .250 as a team (7th in the MLB) and slugging bombs, going deep 68 times. That ranks third in the Majors. Mike Trout leads the way with a .302 average and 13 long balls.

Yankees Looking Like a Contender

New York is one of the hottest teams is baseball right now. Although the Bronx Bombers are just 5-5 in their last 10 games, they’ve won five of their previous seven and really enjoyed a breakout performance on Tuesday against Syndergaard.

After a couple of games of offensive struggles, the Yanks came ready to swing it versus Thor. NY banged out 13 hits with seven coming off Syndergaard, including doubles from Joey Gallo, DJ LeMahieu, Gleyber Torres, and Anthony Rizzo. Matt Carpenter, who recently signed with the team, took the hard-throwing righty deep as well.

Angels vs Yankees Prediction

Taillon had an ERA of 2.01 in May and he continues to impress. He also just dominated the Rays. As good as the Angels’ bats have looked at times in 2022, I do believe he’ll put together a fantastic outing and lead the Yanks to a victory.

Pick: Yankees moneyline (-120)
