Probable Pitchers

Athletics left-hander Cole Irvin (10-14, 3.99) faces right-hander Chris Flexen (13-6, 3.56) in an unlikely matchup of double-digit winners.

Irvin’s contract was purchased from the Philadelphia Phillies in January after he went 2-2 with a 6.75 ERA in 19 games (three starts) over two seasons. Flexen had a 3-11 record and 8.07 ERA in 27 games (11 starts) over three seasons with the New York Mets before spending 2020 in the Korea Baseball Organization.

Half of Irvin’s 30 starts this season have been quality starts but he is just 1-3 with a 6.11 ERA in his last six outings. The Athletics are 14-16 in games he has pitched.

Irvin is also willing to work on his fielding.
