- Books are offering yes/no props on every MLB playoff team’s chances of winning the World Series
- The Houston Astros (+162) are given the best odds to win the Fall Classic
- The Los Angeles Dodgers (+475) are given the best odds among National League teams
When it comes to determining which MLB team is going to win the 2019 World Series, books are leaning heavily toward it being an American League ballclub.
They’re offering yes/no props on every MLB playoff team’s chances of winning the World Series. The Houston Astros at odds of +162, are given the best chance to lift the trophy at the end of the postseason.
Next line among the contenders in the 2019 World Series odds is another AL club, the New York Yankees. The Bronx Bombers are at odds of +285.
Yes/No Odds Of Winning 2019 World Series
Team | Yes Odds | No Odds |
---|---|---|
Houston Astros | +162 | -196 |
New York Yankees | +285 | -365 |
Los Angeles Dodgers | +475 | -665 |
Washington Nationals | +765 | -1200 |
Atlanta Braves | +1275 | -2200 |
St. Louis Cardinals | +1375 | -2350 |
Tampa Bay Rays | +3850 | -7000 |
*Odds taken on 10/08/19.
The Los Angeles Dodgers (+475) are the only National League team given better than a +750 chance of winning it all this fall.
Are Astros Still Best World Series Bet?
The Astros suit up the best lineup in baseball, led by potential AL MVP Alex Bregman, and they send the best starting rotation in baseball to the mound. It features two Cy Young Award winners (Justin Verlander, Zack Greinke) and this year’s favorite to win the award (Gerrit Cole).
I don't dislike the Astros, which is rare for a juggernaut team, but c'mon — if you're not rooting for the Rays here you're on the side of the Chinese Communists, pretty much.

Houston batters struck out the least in MLB (1166) this season and Astros pitchers struck out the most batters (1671). That’s a lethal combination.
The only team that can get Houston beat this season is Houston. And it looks as through they’re trying to do it.
The #Astros have 3 homers all series.
The Rays now have 6 homers in the last 11+ innings.

They’ve blown a 2-0 series lead in their ALDS against the Tampa Bay Rays. Manager AJ Hinch panicked after losing Game 3 to the Rays and started Verlander on short rest. Verlander got lit up in Game 4. He was chased after surrendering four runs in 3.2 innings.
Yankees Will Be Well Rested
Already having completed their traditional ALDS sweep of the Minnesota Twins, the Yankees are home and cooled out. Meanwhile, the Astros fight tooth and nail to survive the pesky Rays.

Is this advantage Yankees? It could be.
Yankees skipper Aaron Boone can set up his starting rotation in any order he sees fit. All his arms are rested. Luis Severino looks like his old self. James Paxton has evolved into the ace the Bronx Bombers thought he’d be when they got him. And Masahiro Tanaka is money in the MLB postseason.

Oh, and the Yankees hit 306 home runs. So there’s that.
Will Dodgers Take Advantage Of Tired AL Winner?
Let’s suppose the Astros get the job done against the Rays. Then it’s on to what figures to be an epic ALCS clash with the Yankees. They could go tooth and nail for seven games. That could play into the Dodgers’ hands.
Roberts said everyone's available to pitch tomorrow. "Hyun-Jin Ryu hasn’t pitched out of the pen, but I think that under these circumstances, we’re going to rely on anyone at any point.”

When it comes to complete teams, the Dodgers are just a hair behind the Astros. They’ve got a solid rotation, and are relentless at the plate.
Cardinals Are MLB Sleepers
If you must deviate from the big three, St. Louis is the call to make. The Cardinals find ways to win the World Series when they have no right doing so.
Here come the footsteps. Do they hear them?@BankofAmerica x #TimeToFly pic.twitter.com/tUU8VzIo1T

The 90-win Cards were 2011 World Series champs. The 2006 Cards were 83-78, the worst record posted by a World Series winner.
And The MLB World Series Winner Is . . .
Until some team puts a stake through their hearts, it’s the Astros.
There's definitely a version of the next few days where the Dodgers and Astros, two teams we've basically described as "the best teams ever," get bounced in the first round, and if that doesn't explain "weird random stuff happens in October," I don't know what does.

If they don’t win, it will rank among baseball’s all-time epic fails.
Pick: Houston Astros (+162).
