Is Guardians Gonzalez Good for a Series Winner?

Cleveland saw 17 rookies make their MLB debuts this season. Seven of those kids are part of the club’s playoff roster.

Outfielder Oscar Gonzalez is among those first-year players, but he’s been delivering during the MLB postseason like a playoff savvy veteran. Not bad for a guy whose walkup song in the theme from Spongebob Squarepants.

Against the Seattle Mariners in the ALWS, Gonzalez clouted a walkout home run in the 15th inning of Game 2 to clinch the series and move the Guardians on to face the Yankees. His bat has been responsible for delivering both Cleveland wins in the ALDS.

He had the game-winning hit at Yankee Stadium in Game 2. And in Game 3 at Progressive Field, Gonzalez delivered a walkoff single as Cleveland rallied from a 5-3 deficit for a 6-5 victory. He’s 1-for-3 in his career against Game 5 Yankees starter Nestor Cortes.

Pick: Oscar Gonzalez 1+ hits (-205)

Rosario Wears Out Cortes

Cleveland outfielder Amed Rosario doesn’t show overwhelming numbers when digging in at the plate against the Yankees this season. He’s batting .278 (5-for-18) with a solo homer. But he absolutely wears out Cortes.

Rosario is 4-for-6 (.667) with two solo homers. He shows a 1.667 slugging percentage and 1.247 OPS against Cortes.

Pick: Amed Rosario 1+ home run (+700)

Just Call Him Home Run Bader

In 10 previous MLB postseason games, Harrison Bader had never hit a home run. Through 14 regular-season games with The Yankees after being acquired from the St Louis Cardinals, Bader never once went deep.

In four games of the ALDS against the Guardians, he’s gone yard three times – once each in Game 1, 3 and 4. Bader is 4-for-14 (.273) in the series and three of his hits are home runs.

Do you consider the law of averages, or should you got with the hot hand – or in this instance, the hot bat? At a betting line of +2100, how do you not make the latter play?

Pick: Harrison Bader 1+ home run (+2100)
