Keuchel Set to Make Braves Debut in Road Clash with Nats

Following their sweep of the beleaguered Philadelphia Phillies earlier this week, the Washington Nationals look to extend their current win streak to five games on Friday, when they open a three-game weekend set with the NL East-leading Atlanta Braves as -140 favorites.

Mired in fourth place in the division with a dismal 19-31 record on May 23rd, the Nationals have since caught fire, going 17-7 over their past 24 outings, including a 10-3 mark on home turf at Nationals Park. The club has been dominant during their current four-game tear, averaging 7.5 runs per game, and held the Phillies to just six total runs in their three-game matchup.

Washington will face an equally hot squad in the visiting Braves, who travel to the nation’s capital as attractive +120 underdogs. Atlanta has racked up a 14-4 record during the month of June, and have earned the win in five of the club’s past seven road series.

Those wins have primarily come against lightweight competition including a pair of sweeps of the hapless Miami Marlins. The Braves were also dominated in a brief two-game series with the Nationals in Atlanta in late May, getting outscored by a 19-8 overall margin to extend their current losing streak against Washington to four games.

Pick: Braves (+120)

Colorado Rockies vs Los Angeles Dodgers Series Price

Team Odds
Colorado Rockies +270
Los Angeles Dodgers -325

Rockies Search End to lengthy Losing Streak Against Dodgers

The Colorado Rockies will have a golden opportunity to gain much needed ground on the Los Angeles Dodgers, when they travel to Chavez Ravine on Friday to open a three-game series with the NL West leaders as lengthy +270 underdogs. The Rockies continued their recent steady play in Arizona this week, sweeping the Diamondbacks to improve to 20-9 over their past 29 outings and climb into Wild Card contention.

Colorado’s big bats continued to do damage in the desert, outgunning the Diamondbacks by a 20-9 overall margin in the club’s first road sweep of the season. Overall, the Rockies have averaged an eye-popping 8.5 runs per game during their current 7-3 run, fueling a 7-3 run for the over in totals betting. However, the club will be without slugger Trevor Story, who suffered a thumb injury on Wednesday in the team’s 6-4 win.

That’s bad news for the Rockies, who are scheduled to face Los Angeles seven times before the end of the month. Perched as heavy -325 favorites on the MLB series prices, the Dodgers take an eight-game win streak against Colorado in Friday’s contest including a crushing three-game sweep at Coors Field in early April.

The Dodgers have also been simply dominant on home turf. Los Angeles is coming off three straight wins over the visiting San Francisco Giants, during which they scored nine runs per game to bury the memory of their recent offensive slump. Pegged as +350 favorites on the World Series odds, the Dodgers own the best home record in the majors this season at 31-9, with their lone series defeat at Dodger Stadium coming against the Milwaukee Brewers back in mid-April.

Pick: Dodgers (-325)

Chicago White Sox vs Texas Rangers Series Price

Team Odds
Chicago White Sox +130
Texas Rangers -150

Rangers Eye Return to Wild Card Contention in Clash with White Sox

The Texas Rangers will be looking to reclaim control of the American league’s second Wild Card when they host the Chicago White Sox this weekend as strong -150 favorites. The Rangers are coming off a split of four-game series with the Cleveland Indians to open their current seven-game home stand, extending a stretch of mediocrity that has seen them go 6-5 in their past 11 to fall a half-game back of Boston in the AL Wild Card race.

Despite their recent struggles, the Rangers remain among the most productive home teams in the AL, posting a 26-14 record and avoiding defeat in home series of three games or more this season. However, starting pitching remains a concern, with two of Texas’ three scheduled starters this weekend, Ariel Jurado and Adrian Sampson, coming off weak performances in starts earlier this week.

VS

Reynaldo Lopez June 21 Ariel Jurado
Odrisamer Despaigne June 22 Lance Lynn
Ivan Nova June 23 Adrian Sampson

The White Sox travel to Arlington as +130 underdogs after splitting a two-game set with the crosstown rival Chicago Cubs to fall to 1-3 in their past four. Chicago has turned in mixed results on the road of late, taking two of three in Kansas City on their most road trip to end a six-game slide. But the White Sox have not won a road series against the Rangers since May 2013, failing to win consecutive games in Texas during a 6-10 run.

Pick: Rangers (-150)
