Pittsburgh vs Milwaukee Probable Pitchers

As previously mentioned, the Pirates haven’t named their starter. However, it does appear Zach Thompson could be the choice here. He’s made 24 appearances overall and 21 starts, pitching out of the bullpen as recent as Friday., throwing five innings of one-run baseball. He’s got a 5.33 ERA on the year.

Another possibility is Tyler Beede but he did pitch on Saturday, tossing three frames. This game will likely just end up being a bunch of different arms contributing to get through nine innings given how shorthanded the staff is at the moment.

For the Brewers, Peralta will be hoping to give his team a quality outing. The righty owns a 4-3 record and 3.70 ERA in 13 starts, striking out 70 in 63.1 innings while walking 23. He actually hasn’t given up more than two runs in each of his five appearances and Peralta’s last one was his best during that span.

The 26-year-old allowed no runs across six frames against the Cubs. He also didn’t surrender a single hit and struck out five batters. Peralta has compiled a solid 1.86 ERA vs. Pittsburgh this season as well.

Bucs Keep Sliding

It’s no secret the Pirates are one of the worst teams in baseball with a 48-80 record. They’re not improving the least either, going 2-8 in their last 10 games and seven losses in their previous eight contests prior to Tuesday’s matchup.

One of the only positives is rookie shortstop Oneil Cruz, who is a long +25000 in NL Rookie of the Year odds. The phenom might be hitting just .200, but he’s got lightning bat speed, power, and plays great defense. He will be a key piece of the future moving forward.

Brewers Still in Playoff Mix

It hasn’t been a stellar second half for Milwaukee, who were atop the NL Central at one point. Now, they sit six games back of the St. Louis Cardinals for first place. If the Brewers make the playoffs, it’ll most likely be through the Wild Card because the Cards aren’t slowing down.

Ahead of Tuesday, Milwaukee has won three in a row and just took two out of three from the Cubs before Pittsburgh came to town. With the Diamondbacks and Rockies up next, this is a prime opportunity for the Brew Crew to win a bunch of ballgames and try to close the gap in the division.

Pirates vs Brewers Pick

All you need to look at here are two things: Peralta’s success against the Pirates and Milwaukee’s recent form. I expect them to take the rubber match on Wednesday at home.

Pick: Brewers runline -1.5 (-130)
