Texas vs Miami Probable Pitchers

The 30-year-old Gray has been stellar over the last month, owning a 5-1 record and 2.15 ERA in his last six starts. Overall, Texas is 9-7 with Gray on the mound in 2022 with six of those outings being of the quality vintage. He was especially sharp the last time out, going seven scoreless innings and allowing just one hit and no walks while striking out nine in an eventual 5-2 win over the A’s on July 13th.

The Rangers hope Gray can perform more like his most recent outing compared to his career numbers against the Fish. He’s 3-3 with a 4.19 ERA in seven career starts against Miami and has yet to win in South Florida, going 0-2 with a 3.93 ERA in three career starts at loanDepot Park.

Meantime, the Marlins are 11-7 in Lopez turns this season. The 26-year-old is one win away from his career high in victories and has spun seven quality starts in 2022. The right-hander earned a no-decision last Wednesday against the Pirates, allowing one run in five innings in an eventual 5-4 Miami victory.

Texas enters the game riding a four-game skid and its offense is ranked 11th in MLB in average runs scored per game. The Rangers are led by All-Star shortstop Corey Seager, who tops the team in homers (22), RBIs (52) and OPS (.804). Second baseman Marcus Semien has rebounded from a horrific start to smash 13 homers and owns a .697 OPS, leading the team in steals (17) and runs (50).

The home team enters this one on a three-game losing streak and entered the break scoring just one run against the Phillies last weekend. On the bright side, Miami has four players with double-figure homers: All-Star second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. (14), left fielder Jorge Soler (13), first baseman Jesus Aguilar (11), and center fielder Jesus Sanchez (11).

However, Chisholm is on the injured list along with Marlins infielder Jon Berti, who has 28 steals, the most in the majors. So, Soler and Co. will have to pick up the slack.

The Marlins currently have +25000 odds to win the Fall Classic, while the Rangers are at +40000 in the World Series odds.

Rangers vs Marlins Prediction

Even though Seager and Semien are starting to perform like their mega-contracts merit and Gray is trending in the right direction, Lopez has been tough to beat at home. He has a 2.85 ERA in 42 starts at loanDepot.

They may not be fully healthy, but I like the Fish in this spot.

Pick: Marlins ML (-125)
