  • The Red Sox vs Tigers odds, preview, and picks can be found below

It’s afternoon baseball at Comerica Park as the Detroit Tigers (2-6, 0-2 home) look to grab a win in the series finale against the Boston Red Sox (4-4, 2-0 away), who have won the first two games. The first pitch is scheduled to be thrown at 1:10 PM ET.

The Red Sox will hand Kutter Crawford the baseball here after his atrocious first start of the year. As for the Tigers, they counter with left-hander Matthew Boyd.

Red Sox vs Tigers Odds

Team Moneyline Runline Total
Boston Red Sox -115 -1.5 (+145) Ov 8.5 (-115)
Detroit Tigers -105 +1.5 (-170) Un 8.5 (-105)

Boston is the favorite with moneyline odds of -115 while Detroit comes back at -105. The Red Sox have now won seven in a row against the Tigers, which certainly bodes well for the series sweep.

Boston vs Detroit Probable Pitchers

Crawford was hit around last week in his season debut, allowing seven earned runs in four innings against the Pittsburgh Pirates. That included three home runs as well. Far from ideal.

The righty went just 3-6 with a 5.47 ERA in 2022 as well in his first full campaign at the MLB level. The 27-year-old is still learning how to be effective in the big leagues. Crawford has faced Detroit once in his career and gave up three earned in 0.1 of an inning.

Crawford vs Boyd Stats

Kutter Crawford
VS
Matthew Boyd
0-1 Record 0-0
15.75 ERA 4.15
4.0 Innings Pitched 4.1
6 Strikeouts 3
2 Walks 3

Boyd had a respectable outing on Monday against the Houston Astros, lasting 4.1 innings and giving up two earned on two hits. While he didn’t stay in the game long enough to get the win, the veteran kept his team in it and gave them a chance.

As the No. 4 starter in the Tigers rotation and one of their more experienced arms, Detroit will be relying heavily on Boyd to give them some consistency. He barely pitched last year with the Seattle Mariners before eventually coming back to Motown, a place Boyd spent 6.5 seasons prior. In five career appearances versus Boston, he owns a 5.18 ERA.

Red Sox vs Tigers Betting Analysis

Boston has taken advantage of the lowly Tigers across these last two games, especially on Saturday. The offense scored 14 runs on 12 hits, knocking out starter Joey Wentz early.

Rafael Devers, who is a +3000 longshot in AL MVP odds, had an absolute day, going 2 for 4 with five RBIs and a pair of home runs. Adam Duval also went 3 for 4 with a bomb as he continues to rake in a Red Sox uniform.

It looks to be another miserable campaign for the Tigers, who sit at 2-6. Although it’s early, they’re towards the bottom of the Majors in basically every important category and most notably, sit 28th in runs scored with just three per game. Sunday presents an opportunity for Detroit to give their home fans something to cheer about before heading back out on the road.

Red Sox vs Tigers Prediction

As you can see, Boston is downright dominating the Tigers in recent memory. I expect them to keep swinging it well Sunday and extend that win streak to eight. Boyd’s ERA against the Sox says it all.

Pick: Red Sox Moneyline (-115)
