  • Game 1 of the 2025 World Series goes down tonight as the Blue Jays host the Dodgers
  • Freddie Freeman has an MLB best .581 WOBA against splitters this season

Game 1 of the World Series takes place in Toronto tonight, with the Blue Jays hosting the Dodgers. This series is littered with superstar players, and names like Shohei Ohtani and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. are sure to be popular bets in the player props market.

I considered both sluggers for my top pitcher and batter props for Game 1, but ultimately went in a different direction. In my opinion there’s more value on the props of Freddie Freeman and Blake Snell, while I can’t resist a George Springer home run boost given the way he’s swinging the bat.

Below, you’ll find my three favorite player prop bets for Blue Jays vs Dodgers Game 1, and the analysis behind each selection.

Player Prop Picks: Blue Jays vs Dodgers Game 1

PlayerPropBest Odds
Freddie Freeman (LAD)Over 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBI-115 at Underdog
Blake Snell (LAD)Under 6.5 Strikeouts -130 at BetMGM
George Springer (TOR)Over 0.5 Home Runs+675 at Bet99

My MLB player props card starts with over 1.5 hits+runs+RBI for Freeman, last year’s World Series MVP. I’m also taking the under on Snell’s 6.5 strikeouts prop, and Springer to go yard for a fifth time this postseason.

Blue Jays vs Dodgers Player Prop #1: Freddie Freeman Hits+Runs+RBI

Let’s start with Freeman, who boats a .504 slugging percentage and .871 OPS in his playoff career. He’ll face Blue Jays starter Trey Yesavage tonight, and should expect a steady dose of splitters. Yesavage is throwing the pitch at the second highest rate this postseason behind only teammate Kevin Gausman. That suits Freeman just fine, as no hitter has had more success hitting splitters this year.

Dodgers WOBA vs Splitters in 2025

PlayerWOBA (MLB Rank)
Freddie Freeman (LAD).581 (1st)
Mookie Betts (LAD).579 (2nd)
Max Muncy (LAD).450 (14th)
Shohei Ohtani (LAD).409 (21st)

Of the qualified 199 batters who’ve seen at least 50 splitters in the regular season and playoffs, Freeman boasts the top WOBA at .581. He’s reached base in all but one 2025 postseason game so far, and is in line for success even if Yesavage exits early.

That’s because the weak link of the Toronto pitching staff is their bullpen, as they lack viable left-handed arms. That unit is a major reason why the Dodgers are favored in the World Series odds. Freeman should see primarily righties all series, and he’s absolutely torched them throughout his career posting a .311/.401/.536 slash line.

Blue Jays vs Dodgers Player Prop #2: Blake Snell Strikeouts

I understand if fading Snell makes you queasy, given his absurd 38% strikeout rate in these playoffs. He’s mowed down at least 8 batters in every postseason start, but the Toronto lineup is a different beast.

The Blue Jays rarely strike out. They make contact at an insanely high rate, and attack pitchers early in the count. No team posted a lower K rate during the regular season, and they’re striking out even less often during the playoffs. Toronto hitters are whiffing on just 14.8% of their at-bats, while averaging 6.5 runs per game.

Another reason to be pessimistic about Snell’s K numbers tonight is due to his arsenal of pitches. He throws primarily fastballs, curveballs and changeups, and the Blue Jays have the best offense versus each of those types of pitches this postseason.

Blue Jays vs Dodgers Player Prop #3: George Springer Home Run

Finally, run don’t walk over to Bet99 to take advantage of their Springer home run boost. They’ve boosted his odds to go yard from +440 to +675 which is an absolute steal.

Springer’s 23 playoff home runs are tied for the third most all-time. He hit 5 dingers in the 2017 World Series as a member of the Astros when they upset LA, and has gone deep four times this postseason.

He doesn’t have a sparkling track record against Snell, but he has taken him deep on one prior occasion. Snell has allowed only 3 home runs all season, but the Dodgers bullpen is vulnerable. They ranked just average in home run per 9 innings allowed, but only four teams issued a higher fly ball rate.
