The Yankees are a -178 moneyline favorite for Monday’s contest, with the over/under in runs sitting at just eight.

NY took two out of three from Minny earlier in the season and have only lost once in their previous seven against them dating back to 2021.

Minnesota vs New York Probable Pitchers

Archer is having a rather dismal year for the Twins. The veteran owns a 4.52 ERA and 2-7 record in 23 starts, striking out 81 in 95.2 innings. Perhaps his biggest problem though is command, walking 45 batters.

While Archer is limiting the walks more lately, he’s still getting hit around. Last time out, the former Ray gave up four earned runs in 4.1 innings against the Red Sox on five hits. On a more positive note, Archer enjoyed a solid outing vs. New York earlier in the campaign, tossing five frames of one-run baseball.

Archer vs Taillon

Chris Archer
VS
Jameson Taillon
2-7 Record 12-4
4.52 ERA 3.97
95.2 Innings Pitched 140.2
81 Strikeouts 117
45 BB 24

Taillon is in the midst of a respectable season, posting a 3.97 ERA and 12-4 record in 26 total appearances. Although he’s allowed his fair share of home runs, the right-hander does a good job of pounding the strike zone and keeping his defense busy. Taillon has surrendered just 24 free passes in 140.2 innings.

Taillon owns an ERA north of four since the All-Star Break and actually left his last start with forearm soreness after getting hit with a liner. But, he’ll be back on Monday. The 30-year-old gave up two runs in two innings to the Angels before exiting.

Minnesota Still Chasing AL Central Crown

The Twins are just a half-game behind the  Guardians for first place in the AL Central and actually sit closer to the divisional crown than a Wild Card spot, where they remain five games back.

But, Minnesota didn’t do themselves any favors this weekend, dropping two out of three to the White Sox, who are right on their tails. Nevertheless, the Twins finished strong on Sunday with a 5-1 win. Dylan Bundy tossed a gem while Carlos Correa went 2 for 5 with a homer and two RBI.

Will Yankees Going Figure It Out?

New York has been sliding ever since the All-Star Break and it continued this weekend. Aaron Boone’s squad lost two of three to the Rays, who are trailing them by five games in the AL East. While the rubber match resulted in a 2-1 win, the Yanks scored just four runs in the series.

The offense is just abysmal right now, hitting .220 as a group since the festivities in LA and scoring a mere 3.7 runs per game in the second half of 2022. That being said, the sportsbooks clearly still believe in NY, with their World Series odds sitting at +450.

Twins vs Yankees Pick

The Yankees are cold right now, there is no question about it. But, returning home should help them bounce back and Taillon has an ERA of 3.03 ERA in day games this year. I like New York to continue their winning ways against Minnesota.

Pick: Yankees (-178)
