  • The New York Yankees are -135 home favorites over the Minnesota Twins in their American League game slated for Saturday, April 15
  • Minnesota has won three in a row at Yankee Stadium for the first time in nearly a decade
  • The Yankees are 16-5 straight up in the past 21 games against the Twins

For the longest time, the New York Yankees (8-6) have haunted the dreams of the Minnesota Twins (10-4). However, it would appear that the long Bronx-based nightmare of the Twins is finally coming to an end.

Minnesota has opened this four-game weekend set at Yankee Stadium with back-to-back wins over the Bronx Bombers. Going back to last season, the Twins have posted three successive road victories over the Yankees.

Consider that prior to last season, Minnesota hadn’t won at Yankee Stadium since May 4, 2019. The last time the Twins were winners of three in a row on the road against the Yanks was in 2013-14.

Twins vs Yankees Odds

Team Run Line Total Moneyline
Minnesota Twins +1.5 (-170) O 8.5 (-105) +115
New York Yankees +1.5 (+145) U 8.5 (-115) -135

Oddsmakers don’t seem to be too impressed. They’re setting the Yankees as -135 home favorites in this game. At 10-4, the Twins are third in MLB against the run line.

First pitch on Saturday, April 15 at Yankee Stadium is set for 1:05pm ET. You have to go back to 1968 to find the most occasion in which Minnesota won four straight on the road against New York’s AL club.

The people are also anticipating a big bounce back performance from New York in the MLB public betting splits. The Yankees are drawing 98% of handle and 80% of bets in the spread splits. When it comes to moneyline splits, it’s also Yankees-centric. There’s 86% of handle and 80% of bets going on the Bronx Bombers.

On the total of 8.5 runs, it’s the over getting the majority of the action. It’s pulling 61% of handle and 77% of bets. Just two of Minnesota’s last 10 games (2-6-2) have gone over. The Yanks are 4-4 on the total through the past eight games.

The Twins are the chalk to win the AL Central in the MLB Divisional odds at a betting line of +110. New York is the +160 second betting choice to wear the AL East crown.

Mahle Facing Yankees For First Time

Since joining Minnesota in a trade with Cincinnati last season, right-hander Tyler Mahle is 2-2 with a 4.28 ERA. In 11 innings of work this season, Mahle has struck out 13 while issuing just two walks.

Mahle has never previously pitched at Yankee Stadium. In fact, he’ll be facing the Yankees for the first time in his MLB career. In day games he’s 15-20 with a 4.25 ERA.

Mahle vs German

1-1 Record 0-1
4.09 ERA 5.87
2.27 xERA 5.66
1.36 WHIP 1.43
6.50 SO/W 1.60

In two starts this season, Yankees right-hander Domingo German has yet to get through the fifth inning. He’s been all over the map in terms of location.

German struck out eight in his first start against the Philadelphia Phillies, but allowed two home runs. He kept the ball in the park when facing Cleveland, but walked five Guardians batters in three innings and didn’t post a single strikeout.

Going back to last season, German has lost his last four decisions and is winless since Aug. 22, a 10-appearance drought. You have to go back all the way to May 5, 2018 to find German’s most recent victory over the Twins.  That’s his only decision against Minnesota. German shows a 5.18 ERA against them in five appearances.

Correa Crushing It For Twins

Minnesota has won the first two games of this series and shortstop Carlos Correa has gone deep in both games. He’s now hit 13 homers in 39 games against the Yankees. In 20 games at Yankee Stadium, Correa’s hit eight dingers. But he’s batting just .222 against German.

First baseman Jose Miranda and DH Byron Buxton are both hitting .500 off of German. Miranda has homered off him and driven in two runs.

Twins vs Yankees Prediction

The AL Central-leading Twins have won four in a row. But can they win four in a row at Yankee Stadium for the first time in 55 years?

Considering the long-term struggles of German, they might never have a better chance to do so than right now.

Pick: Minnesota Twins ML (+115)
