Bellator is heading to the SAP Center in San Jose, California for one of their tentpole events in Bellator 220. Welterweight champion Rory MacDonald will put his title on the line when he takes on Jon Fitch in the main event in the final matchup of the welterweight Grand Prix. In the co-main event, Ilima Lei-MacFarlane is putting her flyweight title on the line when she takes on Veta Arteaga.
The main card airs live at 10:00 p.m. ET on DAZN.

Fight Record and Recent History
MacDonald (20-5) is coming off of a TKO loss to Gegard Mousasi at Bellator 206 where he was looking to become Bellator’s first ever champ-champ. Before that, however, MacDonald beat Douglas Lima to win the belt and Paul Daley in his Bellator debut. Throughout his MMA career, MacDonald has beaten the likes of Tyron Woodley, BJ Penn, Demian Maia, Jake Ellenberger, and Nate Diaz, among others. He has also fought, but lost to, Stephen Thompson, Carlos Condit and Robbie Lawler (twice).
Fitch (31-7-1 and one no-contest) meanwhile, is coming off of a long layoff where he last fought back in May 2018 where he beat Paul Daley by unanimous decision. Fitch is riding a five-fight winning streak where he was the WSOF/PFL champion and beat Jake Shields and Brian Foster, among others. In his long MMA career, Fitch has fought some of the top names in the sport like Georges St-Pierre, BJ Penn, Diego Sanchez, and Thiago Alves.

There is a clear path to victory for the underdog in Fitch to win this fight. If the AKA fighter can take this fight to the ground like Mousasi did to MacDonald and ground and pound the Canadian it could be a good night for the 41-year-old.
However, the oddsmakers have it right where it should be as MacDonald should very well win this fight as his standup is a lot better than Fitch and if he can keep the fight standing he will no doubt win this fight.
If MacDonald can keep the fight standing he will no doubt win this fight.
In the end, I see Fitch giving MacDonald a tougher fight than most anticipate and bringing the fight into the championship rounds with MacDonald scoring a fourth-round TKO.
